computer help please!!!

WEll I have a dell vostro with windows vista lastnight i went to download a test tone generator and i guess it was a virus not sure. My threatfire came up and said virus and i deleted it. It said to restart to finish the debugging so i did that. Well it came up with something saying application did nnot finish. It would sit there at a black screen for over 30 mins so i figured i would try safe mode nothing. same thing. So i reinstalled the operating system which worked fine and i am on here but. All my drivers and the componets of the computer dont work like my speakers when i hit the volume nothing happens, my wifi catcher that doesnt work either i am using the cord to catch a signal. Also like he video card when i hit solitare it says video card and hardware alecration needs to be installed.

Well how can i fix this mess i made also the screen is big and the words are too and i changed the resolution still nothing.

I need some help from your smart computer guys this pisses me off.

you need to find the backup cd for ure drivers

You probably need to download the drivers and install them for your software. Try going to dell.com and looking for drivers.

I have one its black says drivers and utilities already installed on your computer, contents device drivers and diagonstics and utilities

also have a blue one that says for reinstalling dell media direct 3.5 on your computer

this just pisses me off i lost all my files and everything and the screen and writting is way huge than it should be

ok did you do full system recovery to factory default or to restore point?

i just threw in the OS cd and reinstalled the OS and basically like its all fresh so i assume everything is gone

i jut want to know how to get my graphics card and wifi and all the hardware to work on the computer

If all of your drivers are installed properly maybe everything is too big because it is set a the wrong resolution?..........

If the drivers for the wifi and other hardware devices are not working properly I would just go to dell's website and download the drivers for each one that isnt working properly.

OR you could try this>

1. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager.* Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2. In Device Manager, locate the device you want to update, and then double-click the device name.

3. Click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver and follow the instructions. It should ask if you want to use windows update to update the driver. "Windows Update may not have the correct or latest driver update"

thats what that page looks like with all the stuff thats not installed i need installed along with the wifi catcher isnt working for some reason

when i click to intall/repair drivers it doenst work says cant find it but i put the cd in so idk whats going on

go to dell and download the drivers

right click on the icon, choose update and browse my computer, go to when you saved the downloaded driver and install

after i click update driver it says it has been updated but yet its still showing that symbol by it

Okay....

The reason everything is so big is because the video card drivers are not installed properly. That is the "Video Controller" listed in device manager.

The one that says "Network controller" is the wireless card.

A exclamation point next to a listing in there is going to mean that the device is in a problem state. Note that a device that is in a problem state can be functioning.

You can try to right click each one and use windows update to try updating it.

It does look like your regular NIC card is working fine in Device manager, so I would just go to Dell's Website and find the drivers for your model.

You can right click each one and point to the cd drive. Probably the "D" drive and see if it will Reinstall the drivers properly from that disc you have.
