Computer Guys quick Q on VGA resolution

if the video card in the laptop can do it.

i don't know of a reason it wouldn't work.

i am on a 21" monitor running 1600 x 1200 right now through vga.

and it looks just fine.

but at home i have a 20" widescreen lcd at 1680 x 1050 with dvi and it definitely looks better.

but that is probably the difference between a kind of old crt and a pretty new lcd.

i am not sure if that helps at all but i think you will be just fine wth vga.

The video card can support it I'm sure (8600M GT)

I just remember running my 20.1" at 1680x1050 on my old laptop last year (onboard gfx) and the screen from what I remember was way blurry, DVI made all the different in the world.

i would immagine it was more an issue with the laptop than the vga connection.

most laptops have pretty sucky onboard graphics.

but i bet the 8600 gt will work fine.
