Everything you have so far seems fine. You are going to need, a video card, and a power supply(min 500watt, depending on your video card)

And a case if you don't have one.

I'm no computer expert, But invest in a good tower. Good ventilation, room for future expansion. Also check out tigerdirect.com they got pretty good prices on a lot of there stuff. What do you use the comp mainly for games, watching movies, internet, movie making?

The RAM will work with that MB, but Unless you are an AMD fan boy (which isn't a bad thing IMO) I would build an Intel machine. You can get a Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 for the same price as the 6000+ and it will run circles around that AMD 6000+

Thank you, atleast someone else knows dust/heat and kill hardware.

i would change the cpu you chose for this one

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103769

you can overclock it for the difference if you know how. if not then the difference is negligable. plus it will save you around $70 bucks

the mobo out of personal preference i would choose the epox mf570sli

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813123005

over the asus one im not a big fan of passive cooling. yea the passive cooling make no sound at all but just a little bit of dust on the heat pipes increases heat dramatically.plus the epox just has more features that the asus and cost $10 less .if your a tweaker then you will get more out of the epox one with cool features like a diagnostic lcd built into mobo and internal reset and power switches not to mention 2 ide slots and a gazillion sata connections

with the money you save you can upgrade your video card from a 7900gs to a 7950gt or 8600gt

and still save a few bucks

i would have to disagree simply because the intel compatible boards can be really really picky with ddr2 ram and since this his first build it would be wiser to go with something not so picky .not to mention the fact that the e6600 is about the same speed as a 4800+x2 so no it actually isnt faster than a 6000+. unless you overclock the e6600 then it will whup the 6000+ but not till its oc'ed and by oc i mean alot.say from 2.4 to 3.3-3.6.

***edit*** oops sorry i was comparing to the 6400 not the 6600 was really tired or something at the time***

but i still say the intel board can be really picky with ram.

You will not need a 500watt power supply for that rig. A 350 would be plenty but I would go with a 400watt from a good company. Find one at Newegg that matches your motherboard connections. Those FSP Group ones are some of the best.

have a video card and a power supply 550 watt.

got a good tower, its a big-em. Middle of gaming and movies.

this is the processor my friends has ben reccomending me. Since hes in IT ill just roll with this one. All he does is mess with comps.

If video games, I say get less processor and more video card.
its in the middle of video games and movies. I plan on linkin the videos cards. I think that should be sufffiecient. But what card would u reccommend?

al i have to check these things out, and revise my build, thanks man.

The E6600 is about equal to the AMD FX-62, which is slightly faster than the 6000+ ...
My suggestions would be:

1) Do NOT buy a refurb hard drive ... Absolutely retarded ... I would also opt for more space because the larger drives generally feature perpendicular recording, which not only gives you more space, but faster access times and transfer rates. The 320 GB Seagate 7200.10 or 500 GB Samsung Spinpoint HD501LJ are both good choices.

2) If you don't plan on overclocking, just stick with budget memory. You won't gain any performance at stock speeds by getting high-end memory. Also, the 6000+ has practically no overclocking potential which furthers the uselessness of getting that memory.

3) Get a DirectX 10 graphics card ... You may not be able to get a DX10 card that's as fast as the 7900 GS for the same price, but an updated shader model is more important to usable longevity than speed is.

4) Spend $10 more and get a DVD+/-RW ... Get a Lite-On or LG if you burn movies, Samsung if you don't.

5) Case and power supply are both very important. Aim for a well-built power supply that can supply at least 500 watts to support future upgrades and get a case that is well-built and has good airflow. If you're looking for an all-in-one solution, the Antec Sonata III is a decent choice; the case has good venthilation and the power supply is decent, although the build quality leaves a little to be desired. For something a little higher-end, the Gigabyte GZ-XA1CA-STB is a very well-built case that isn't too big and the Silverstone ST50EF-Plus is a rock-solid power supply that will outperform many higher-rated PSUs, even under high loads.

6) I would probably take the Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 combined with the Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3. As mentioned, the E6600 slightly outperforms the Athlon64 X2 6000+ and is slightly cheaper as well. The Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 is a very well-built board with tons of features and huge overclocking potential (not that it seems like you'll use it).

allright ill look into these when i get offf of work.

Thanks alot guys, looks like i got more shopping around to do
