comprehensive install with a few Q's1

Ive been researching on the forum for about 3 months trying to put together a comprehensive budget buildup for my 02 bose equiped escalade.

heres the skinny so far:

jL Audio Cleansweep - $202

AA 8" - $55

kicker 700.5 -$247

PG RSD 6.5 comp - $92

PG RSD 6.5 (rear set) - $77

Box build (sealed false floor behind 3rd row - .55cu) ~ $40

amp wiring / speaker wiring - $119

100' fatmat - $88

=$920

im expecting excellent SQ from this system maintaining a great budget

i can post any pictures or instructions of the buildup and reviews if anyone is interested..

finally for the hiccups -

the cleansweep: it accepts a FL, FR, RL, RR speaker inputs and outputs via RCA to an external amplifier.

problem is, the car has 11 speakers, the front right and left are factory components - the delta of the inputs cant be more than 24dB according to JL, but does anyone know which speaker inputs from the car are and aren't going to work? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

i was expecting to mount the amp and cleansweep in the rear drivers quarter in place of the stock bose subwoofer and use the wiring from the stock amp. problem is, the stock amp, although feeding 11 speakers, has way too many unmarked wires - there is no way to determine what wires are going into / out of the amp and to what source or speaker. anybody have a wiring diagram or methodology for determining what wires connected to the amp go to which speaker (the color coding doesn't match btw)?

ok - so called JL, they said i need a singal summing interface - so it looks like the cleansweep is going to go up for sale before i even start the install -

the cost is putting it over what it takes to get a decent head unit so....

imo...screw the whole bose stock system. Run an aftermarket headunit, speakers, amps and all new wiring. Bypass all the factory stuff and save yourself the headache. And you will like the pg's you mentioned. I just did the comps in the front doors and coax's in the rear doors of my jeep cherokee and they sound **** good for the money.

which brings me to a new pain in the *** - the 1.5 din GM factory unit.

has anyone replaced the 1.5 din size with a double din unit? in any of the earlier GM's?

your not going to fit a double din without some custom modifications. I would go single din dash kit & receiver.

not only that, but there isnt really too many impressive double din units ou there unless your going with a dvd/nav unit

its a 2002 escalade with the factory bose. i think its 11 speakers, the 11th being the sub in the rear quarter (not in the center console)

a couple guys on the cadillac forums are using LOC harnesses to connect RCA to an external amp, but i dont know much about this - is this a viable option?

my complaints about the single DIN setup are

1) loosing the steering wheel controls

2) the gaps left behind after the install won't be "perfect"

3) security with an aftermarket unit visible to onlookers

1. U can by an bose adapeter to keep your chimes, onstar, and steering wheel controls.

2. There will be no gaps, it called a dash kit made specifically for you vecihle to fill in those gaps.

3. Most headunits faceplates detach so you can take them with u. Also i would invest in an alarm or some dark tint.
