Components better than Kicker Resolutions

I got a new car (Mazda RX-8) and I'm looking to put some nice components into the car to replace the Bose system (yuk)

In my old car I had Kicker Resolution RS6's hooked up to a US Acoustic USX2085 amp which put out around 85-100W x 2 @ 4ohms. I really liked the sound of the Resolutions, and I was wondering what other components are there will sound good/better than the Resolutions? I'll probably be using the same amp (may sell the amp if I need a stronger amp) I listen to mainly rap and hip hop (eminem, atmosphere, slug, tech n9ne the usual mainstream and underground), acoustic and vocals (dave mathews band, john mayer, etc) and sometimes alternate rock/hard rock (linkin park, sum 41, new found glory, greenday, etc)

I probably will not be adding a sub to the system, so I will need speakers that will be able to produce the highs and some pretty decent lows.

What are you suggestions?

what kickers r6's are they because I have seen a few diffrent ones and they dont all sound the same. Like the one my brother has are chrome and the have the K on them and some others I have seen are black and say kicker on them and I think theres 2 other ones.

They are chrome and have K on it. There is the K series and there is the Resolution series by Kicker. Resolution series is Kickers high end line excluding their flagship ones.

I went to local car audio places today just to check out some components and I listened to some Focal's and I loved them. I believe he said they were the Power series and he said they ran $1000 for the set. I know they arn't that much online if I can find them cause he was saying the Alpine Type-R's were $400 which on ebay they run for around $200 if that.

Just wondering about everyones opinion on the Focals. Really clear, heard everything the song had, and got plenty loud in the demo room.

How does the Focal line go? He said if I wanted to go step above what I was listening to, I'd have to go with the Utopia's which were "$1200"

actually, we have a new Resolution line called the 05RS562 and RS652...I installed the 05RS652's in my Tahoe, adn have them running off the front half of a KX7005 and they sound pretty good, smooth and sweet midbass....you may want to listen to them as well.

The door speakers in that beast are over 8" wide. IIRC correct there was a mounting depth issue though. They are a PITA to work on for a large installer. I'm 6' and 215lbs and don't exactly fit well into smaller cars. We had a customer blow his Rockford BD1001 4 times due to a piss poor ground return to the battery. In the end after being told about this, he finally allowed us to ground to the battery and no further issues. Audio Control 6XS is a great interface for you to use if you are going to retain the stock head unit and use all new gear after the fact.

THE UTOPIA'S ARE WICKED SPEAKERS BUT THE MONEY IS A JOKE. You can get the lower line Focal's for half the price and have great sound. Anyone that uses the Utopia's is either in comp or is an audiophile. The bottom line is........If you can afford the $1200. then buy the Utopia's, if not look into the lower line and save yourself some bucks.
