I'm looking to put some components in my ford escape. Im new to this so any ideas on brands and setups if i wanna spend around 300 - 500?
He posted pretty much everything I would suggest as well as Blues audio and Massive... As for amps it just depends on what speakers you go with...300 to 500 on components and amp. Id probably want a two way setup to two 6.5s right?? Thanks for the brand starters any other advice on some good brands?
I'll toss some ideas. Hybrid Audio Imagine are considered to be very good speakers at their price of $250. Search archives for lots of good reviews. The only issue is that their crossover is somewhat primitive. Some people think that tweeters are not attenuated enough. This is not an issue for a lot of high end installs, since people will run their speakers with their own active crossovers. I have them in my car right now running in bi-amp mode and I wouldn't change a thing (besides tuning) in the install. The woofers have very good bass capability (6mm one way xmax) which translates into a very good power handling, but they also play very high in frequency range. A recommended band-pass crossover frequency is between 5 and 6KHz. Hybrid Audio Clarus costs just over $500 and these were considered the next step above Imagine. These come with more robust crossover boxes and tweeters. The woofer is deeper (too deep for some cars) and has 7mm of xmax. HAT Unity is a new HAT product that combines an Imagine woofer (without a phase plug) with Clarus tweeter and crossover. If you intend to use passive crossovers, Unity or Clarus should be a decent choice. I have heard that Focal Polyglass 165 V30 are comparable to Clarus and cost about the same, so those are worth checking out as well.300 to 500 on components and amp.
