Component vs coax

well what does installing speakers intail???? i am not super handy with electrical stuff... but if it isnt that hard like crimping 2 wires together then i can handle that... so focal is worth the 175 installed or garbage????

Yeah you could, for 300-400 you could pick up a good rainbow model. The Germaniums are quite good for the money http://car.rainbow-audio.de/products/introduction.php?lan=2&pro=1&lin=17. And you would need some sound deadening. Do you plan on deadening your car yourself? Installing speakers isnt that complicated, unless you have to make a baffle or some shit like that. As long as you can run wires and screw in screws you're set.

I woudl worry about using an amp on the fronts and running the rear fill just off the deck power. Gives you a better power choice for the money with a 2 channel.

There is no reason why with $1000 you couldn't get speakers, amp and some sound deadening depending on what you decide to go with for speakers.

hmmm... and can someone help me understand what a passive and active x-over is..... sorry for all the stupid questions... thx for all the help everyone who answered very much appreciated

oh i guess i better tell you that i dont want to build a baffle or a kickpanel i just want to mounth them in the stock spots... in the front i have a 5.25 and in the rear i have 5.25 in the back.... what would putting some components in that back do to the sound????

The back is mainly to fill in the sound, to put some components in, you would have to cut some of your interior to make a spot to mount the rear tweeter. Also, if you wanted to save some money, I have always liked the high end Infinity components. They sound nice, they are not as power hungry as others and can be had for 150-199 usually. Also, they now make 2ohm models so you can get the most from a amp. If I was working with 1000 I would get a XX-Juputer(Hifonics) for 330, a set of Infinity Coax for the rear for 99.00, and a set of Infinity components for the front for 169.00. So that totals about 600. Add shipping and tax its about 700 (Max) Take the rest and get a high quality install kit, and a bunch of sound deadener and your car would sound tits.
