Component speaker blown?

When you have a blown speaker, does that mean it crackles and pops when music is playing. Mine just doesnt work anymore, but the tweeter is still working. Does a mid bass driver play lyrics also or just bass? How can i tell if its blown or something? Is fried different than blown?

If the tweeter is playing than there is a very good chance that the woofer is blown. Blown and fried = no sound, so really no difference.

I would make sure that the speaker in question doesn't have a loose connection. You can hook it up to another channel on your amp and see if it works.

sometimes the snapping and popping can be from the terminals grounding out to the metal in the door.
