I'm learning about components and I'm getting a little confused. Ok right now I got coaxials and I wana get components. I know you have to get kickpanels. The tweeter and the midrange go in the kickpanels. What goes in the door panel? I see some component sets with 3 speakers and some with 2? Am I missing something here?

You are not missing anything.

There are some component sets that are "2 way", and some that are "3 way". 2 speakers, or 3 speakers. You do not nessesarily need kick panels when using components, you can install the midrange in the door and the tweeter in the pillar or dash, etc...or also in the door. I recommend kick panels, though. I think it helps pull your imaging together. You can then place your crossover inside the door or mount it externally if you like the looks of it.

How many Tweeters can you have?

Because the car I'm getting has tweeters in the doors right off the bat. I was gonna keep those tweeters and get a component set that has a midbass in the door and the mid and tweeter in kickpanels. Would this sound good or is it too much?

I think that would be a bit too much...but some people have different preferences. I would stick with just the speakers from the component set. Go 6.5", with some nice kick panels, and a good amp(unless your using your head unit for power), and you'll be impressed with the sound. You wont even need any rear speakers if you have components up front:)

so what would go in the door panel than? Leave it empty? Also what kind of amp should i power it with a 2 or a 4 channel? I was thinking a 2 channel for the components and a 4 channel to power my 4 back speakers.

Nothing would go in the door panel if you used kick panels for your components...except maybe your crossover. No speakers, anyway. Power the components with a 2 channel.

You have 4 back speakers?? 2 would be more than enough...what all do you have back there?

and option for 2 6x9 in the back
If you put components up front in kickpanels, you wouldnt even need rear speakers. The only thing you may find is that you need a dedicated midbass driver back there in the doors.

I would not get the option of 6x9's...

I recommend:

1 set - 6.5" components up front in kick panels

(1 pair - 6.5" midbass driver in the rear doors)..if needed.

1 - 2 channel amp for the components

(Another 2 channel for the rear midbass, or a 4 channel for everything)...again, if needed.

Ok but Should I keep the tweeters I have in the door? Or should I just put the new components in the door? Out of MB Quart, Alpine Type R, or Infinity Kappa, which would be the best? What amps would you recommend and how much power would I need at 4 ohms? Thank you

my personal fav's are kodas, and alpine type r's....havent actually got to listen to the kodas yet...but have heard they are some of the best and ive been impressed w/ the info on them at http://www.adireaudio.com .......and my listening taste's are slightly different than most due to my hearing problems.....(half deaf in my left ear so my right ear overcompensates).......ohh and a good 75 watt amp will be good for most componets.....and the kodas do have a dedicated mid speaker.....enjoy

I wouldnt keep the stock tweeters in the doors.

Put the new components in kick panels, if your wallet will let you.

MB Quart - Great speaker overall, harsh tweeters though

Alpine Type R - Sound good to some, sound horrible to others

Infinity Kappa - Very well rounded speaker...sound great to most people

I recommend that you listen to as many component sets as you can before purchasing some. Circuit City, etc are good places to try them out. Keep in mind that the showroom's acoustics are very different from those of a vehicles, though.

As for amps, it really depends on what speakers you go with...

Some to check out would be:

Crossfire - http://www.crossfirecaraudio.com

MTX - http://www.mtxaudio.com

US Acoustics - http://www.usacoustics.com

Phoenix Gold - http://www.phoenixgold.com

Orion - http://www.orioncaraudio.com

Kicker - http://www.kicker.com

HiFonics - http://www.maxxsonics.com/hifonics/index2.html

Etc.

I agree...I thought about putting in an extra set of speakers so my car would sound louder. it also depends on the size of your car, if you have an SUV, I would get the option, if you have a compact or a mid-size car I wouldn't. All you are doing by adding an extra set of speakers in a mid size car is pulling the sound stage to the rear of your car and you don't want that, espcially if you sit in the driver seat of your own car right!! if you were to get the 6x9s and pull the sound stage to the rear of your car what would be the point of buying componets then right??? you could use the money from the componets to buy a nice set of 6x9's, but i don't recommend that!

I would also replace the tweeters, a nice set of componets will upgrade the loudness of the car and also the clarity. You will be able to turn it up nice and loud! Just put the new ones in where the old ones are and it should be real easy to install.

hope this helped a little

3 sets I'm looking at:

Inifinty Kappa Perfect 6.1 - $240

Alpine Type R - $132

Adire Audio Koda 6.1 - $350

Has anyone any experiences with these 3? If there isnt a big difference between the 3 I would get the least expensive. But if theres a big difference I would go with the most. Thanks a lot.

Also if I were to put midbasses in the doors which would someone recommend? I want it that my soundstaging doesnt go to the rear but has a little rearfill. Thank you
