i am currently running pioneer ts-c160r in front and rear. i am replacing the front component set with one of these 2. problem is that when i (not a newbie anymore, but a rookie still) compare the specs for $200 components with $600 components, I hardly notice a difference. I will spend the extra $200 to get ill sound quality, especially since I wanna make sure that if I go with the Polks, it will be a significant enough upgrade from my current components to justify the time, money, and effort.

first, my current specs:

RMS: 60 Watt

Max Output: 250 Watt

Response Bandwidth: 25 - 32000 Hz

Sensitivity: 90 dB

KICKER SPECS ($400)

Sensitivity: 87 dB

Frequency Response: 40-21,000 Hz

Recommended RMS Power: 100W

Peak Power Handling: 200W

POLK SPECS ($200)

Sensitivity: 92 dB

Frequency Response: 40-22,000 Hz

Recommended RMS Power: 100W

Peak Power Handling: 300W

what am i missing, bc the difference in the specifications doesn't justify the price diff.

You generally get what you pay for in car audio. My Type-X comps specify no more than 75 watts each, yet will sound better than either one of those comps you listed above... and retail for a bit more than those kickers you listed.

I kinda saw the comparison first hand, I have a set of Kicker Rs's and a set of CDT Ef61's....and the Kickers sound so much better its a shame I even bought CDT //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Yah I was very disappointed with CDT.... I about died when I installed the CL-61's... they were awful

My vote goes for Rainbow SLC's ($240)

or

Rainbow Germaniums (~$450)

PM 6spdcoupe if your interested... I've never heard a bad thing about Rainbows and I should be getting germaniums soon (paying today)

If you could find Aura MR's floating around they'd eat both of those for breakfast and cost less than $200 used

I’m sure they will be a good budget setup. I think they will lack some midbass but door treatment is super important so definitely be sure to do...

Sound deadening and door preparations are key to getting the best results towards more SQ oriented within the vehicle, as well as speaker locations
