It's time to install my 5 1/4 CDT components. My car has the factory mounts in the framing but theres no hole in the door panel for them. Now I know that I will need to install a baffel between the door frame and the door panel( 2- 1" thick pieces of mdf stacked ontop of each other) for the mid but in order to surface mount it. Is a baffel necessary for the tweeter especially if I install it in the sail pannel? The cdt tweeter I have comes with a bracket and a cup to flush mount the tweeter in.

Heres what the panels look like on my 94 cutlass sup.

Also which location should I install my tweeter in? The sail pannel or right next to the mid? I originally thought I should put it in the sail pannel because I also have 4" Alpine type S speakers(with bassblockers @ 150hz) in the dash and it would be imaged better having all three speakers equal distance apart. Am I wrong in thinking this?

And unfortunetally I dont have the propper tools to do the installation propperly. And I was wondering what you think a job like this might cost?

You won need to make a baffle for the tweeters.

first i dont think youll need 1" board...u'd prob be fine with 1/2".....aim the tweeter at the opposite head rest if u have mounting cups to do so...if u only have flush or straight flush i dobnt no... the only option then is to mount straight unless u jimmy rig sumtin...also consider deadning at thye same time...

I just put the CDT 3/4's in my S-10 and set them up as a flush mount in the door pods kind of like what your picture shows. They come with brackets to mount them different ways with a nice instruction sheet. My advice and the way I plan on setting them up in my car is to make some long feed wires, use double-sided tape and mount them with that in different locations around the car to see what sounds the best. When you finalize on the location screw them down using which ever holder will work the best. Should be great!

but how would my x-overed 4" affect imaging? What I plan on doing now is, running the bridged 4 channel amp off of my rear pre outs only. That way my components will be crossed over by the HU. The reason I am doing this is so that way when I use the fade in the hu to adjust the volume af the componenets in relation to the 4", so that way the 4" inch will be "the front" and the components and 6x9's will be "the rear"and I can play with the fade to get better imaging or turn the 4" right off if need be.

but I really like the idea of the tweeters in the sail pannel. Thats what I really need the opinions on!
