Component crossover location options

Ok I have my crossovers presently under my seats in the car but the new ones that I have a quite a bit larger than the ones presently installed. Is there a problem (signal loss) by mounting them further away from the speakers, in the trunk?

The tweets are in the kick pannels and the mids are about 5" away in the lower dash so the doors aren't an option.

Has anyone done any tests to see if there is a difference?

Thats a good question, Im planning to rearrange my Xovers as soon as I get a pair. I currently have them in the doors, but somehow my Dynamat got melted over them. Im planning to move them into the trunk also. Im hoping it wouldnt affect performance.

i wouldn't think so as I have seen many people mount them in their trunks. You'll just need to run more speaker wire.

Use proper gauge of wire for the distance you are running the speaker wire and the current that is passing through them and it won't make any difference at all. I would say if you are under 300rms 14-16g would be sufficient, i wouldn't go any smaller and larger never hurts.

Yeah if they are too far away the frequencies start to uncross. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Actually it shouldn't make a difference as long as your speaker wire is thick and conductive enough. This shouldn't be a problem anyways since if your wires had to run the same exact distance previously from the amp to the crossover.

I have over 100ft of knu 12 guage waiting to go in so I don't think I will have a problem then //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I will just need to do a pair of 10ft runs on each side of the car.
