component amp. need advice/help

ok i got to thinking about this just now. i think my front stage is messed up big time.

nothing is installed currently or hooked up.

here's the thing; i have a kicker IX406 amp i was gonna use.

i have a pair of XXX 6.5's i was gonna use as midbass and a pair of Usher 9950-20 1" tweeters.

i realized that the tweets only need 10rms so should i just run these off the headunit? problem is, the tweets are reading at 4.7ohms. would this cause a problem with the headunit?

the xxx mids are svc 2ohms. so i'm either stuck with wiring them to .5 or 2 ohms right?

well if that's the case, then i need to ditch this amp, get a 2 channel and figure out how to not overpower my tweets with the headunit.

anybody have any suggestions to help me out? and no, nothing will be for sale until i get this all figured out.

If I'm not mistaken, 2 OHM svc's will give you either a 2 ohm load or a 1 ohm load....depending on stereo or mono hookup......i'm pretty sure with svc's hooking both up to one channel simply cuts the ohm load in half.....not 100% sure.....but about 95% sure

now hooking up dvc's at 2 ohm or hooking up 4 svc's would be a .5 ohm load

see that's what i'm unsure of. i kno 1 dvc 2 ohm sub can be wired to 2 or 4 ohms so i was kinda basing it off that. but i have no clue. if i can get this figured out, then i'll have some goodies up for sale soon.

Since you are running the mids in stereo (I hope so) you are loading the amp with 2ohm per channel, two channels. Most amps are 2 ohm per channel stable (including Crossfire CFA series //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif). Are you going to run a passive or active crossover for the midrange signal?

Did I miss the question btw?

If you're going active and you have a Kicker IX406 (55WRMS x 6) I'd run the tweeters with the front channel, mids with rear channels and sub with the last two channels bridged. I don't think 55WRMS will overpower the tweeters, I was actually running my a/d/s/ tweeter with 75WRMS with no problems at all.

but could i just run the tweets off the headunit, run the mids of your cfa-302, and my mags off the 20.1 all controlled/processed by an 880prs?

that seems better to me, and someone else can have a nice underrated old school 6 channel amp.

That's a very good option too, you won't overpower the tweeters by running them off the headunit and you can sell that Kicker amp.
