Sorry audioholicI jsut overall liked the W7 better eventhough the ID max did specific things better.. I just like the sound overall of the W7 better..

I don't think it's necessarily a case of being too technical, but rather, identifying any potential shortcomings of the testing methodology. If people wish to take the testing for what it is, that's great, but let's not be quiet about the elephant in the room folks just because it's the polite thing to do.

ID max

-Low extension was much improved and even with the roll off had a decent high end

-a little boomy at times but in general was very natural sounding(maybe the box)

W7

-became a low end monster.... never heard a single sub play low frequencies like that..

-top end rolled off quickly... but was smooth

SI mag

-was very boomt but deffinetly the loudest of the group

-no upper end but the low end was VERY loud!

Mx

-smooth and buttery... had a nice timbre

-deffinetly recommend a ported box.. a MUCH better performer!!

Oz audio

-Sounded boomy and actually ... horrible... l

-bad low end extension and it started to smell so I quit the test

SS Davinci

- loud (2nd loudest) but over barring.. not smooth at all...

- strained on high freq. was not a happy camper

I don't know about the idmax. How much watts were given to it? I have had very bad luck giving idmax "JunkMax"!

another "satisfied customer". OMG. I think teamquakecelica just compared the iDmax to a JLw7, what you call a real subwoofer. But wait, didn't he think that the iDmax performs well compared to the w7? does that mean the w7 is junk too? oh shit.
