Comparable JL 10w6v2 sub

JL is not for SPL, just FYI.
Maybe I should have phrased that a little better. The two JL Audio subs, each in a .75 cubic foot sealed chamber = NO OUTPUT below 50 hz whereas the single dd1010 ported @ 40 hz gives me a significant amount of sub bass output. Granted, the JL Audio is a little smoother in the 50 to 80 hertz range, but it sucks when my current musical tastes have bass notes that dip into the 30 hz range, and I don't hear them!

Right now I am listening to a lot of drum and bass, and with the 10w3v2s sealed, I am missing most of my music because they don't reproduce those frequencies whereas the single dd1010 does. In fact, the single dd1010 shakes the shite out of the Civic whereas I hardly hear the JL Audios. Truthfully, I expected better from an entry level JL Audio SQ sub that retails for close to $300 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif At least I only paid $90 for the pair:D

I just replaced two JL 10w3v2s with a single ported dd1010 that out SPLs the two JLs! Personally, I would get a 10" RE SE before I purchased another 10" Jl 10Wanything!
The idiot has spokeb

Spoken like a person that only cares about how loud it is...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
x2. Ignorant pricks

the re SE is a great alternative to the W6, also mach 5 IXL, and FI Q and SSD(although the Q has great sound quality, it can also be really loud as well) there are alot of great JL alternatives, JL subs (at least the w6 and the w7) are very nice equipment, but what it comes down to is the money, and for the price of a W6 or a W7 you can buy subs that sound better and get louder for less money.
I wouldn't say the RE SE is alternative to teh w6v2, as I have heard all size and shapes and still feel the w6v2 excells over the RE SE, but it certainly is the closest competitor

I have used 3 10w3v2s and then 2 12w3v2s and I thought they were a great low entery sub. The 12w3v2's in a ported box were great. and hit everything.

IMO w3v2 > w3v3

You sound like my MECP certified installer friend. He said that since I didn't like the 10w3v2, don't even consider the w3v3 series because I would hate them even more:eek:

Before I give up on the 10w3v2s, I am going to try them ported. If they still ****, I will set them out by the curb and let them take care of themselves;)

ETA I am not totally anti-JL Audio if you look in the sig below. That 13w6v2 in the Mustang Stealthbox is pretty impressive for a sealed sub! I have yet to hear anything that sounds that good and takes up very little trunk space!

The W3 series is not an never has been an entry level sub. That has always been the realm of the W1, W0 and W1v2 series.
The reason that you lacked output in the lower freqs is that the box you had them in was too small. They really wanted a box almost 2x that size.
Not according to JL specs which call for a .625 cubic feet sealed per 10. When I plotted it out in WinISD, I started thinking argh, now I know why these subs **** so bad!

ETA: More reason why I don't like them sealed. Look at JL Audio's specs for a .625 sealed chamber per 10: Fc: 54.8 Hz F3: 43.8 Hz Qtc: 0.97

I am porting these bad boys before I totally give up on them!

That's because JLs specs are for the average consumer that wants them loud in a small box and really doesn't care about or understand what they're giving up to get that. I pretty much ignore manufacturer specs because they aren't designed for what I want. I pretty much know that going in.

If you decide to get rid of them, let me know. I'll pay shipping if you're just going to throw them away.

If I don't like the ported box and the 10w3v2s survive my desires to flambe them with thermite or blow them to hell with tannerite, I'll let you know. Just think of the youtube hits I will get with thermite JL Audio or tannerite JL Audio!
