Comparable JL 10w6v2 sub

I'm looking to replace my old 12" subs for just one 10" that can do the same thing a JL can do. I hear while JL has some of the top of the line subs, they're somewhat pricey compared to others that can perform similarly. Any recommendations?

Also, would my current amp be able to supply enough power for a JL sub or a comparable?

Phoenix Gold 5.0:1

# Max power output: into 4 ohm, 250 watts. Into 2 ohm, 500 watts.

# Continuous power (RMS): 150-300 watts (depending on ohmage).

# Impedance: 2 or 4 ohm

I just replaced two JL 10w3v2s with a single ported dd1010 that out SPLs the two JLs! Personally, I would get a 10" RE SE before I purchased another 10" Jl 10Wanything!

buddy there a things out there that will take a shit on all of JL's stuff put together!!
I'd like to hear some suggestions if that's the case! I've never heard anything bad about JL except for its steep price.

And thank you gunz, I just saw a youtube video of the RE SE in action. Nice stuff.

helotaxi and friends, have you guys heard much about TC sounds?

I'm really trying to budget myself a bit better. For $300-500, I want one 10 or 12" 400-500 watts rms, supplied by a price and power efficient amplifier in a sealed enclosure that has proper displacement. I'm real new at this so any help would be great.

the re SE is a great alternative to the W6, also mach 5 IXL, and FI Q and SSD(although the Q has great sound quality, it can also be really loud as well) there are alot of great JL alternatives, JL subs (at least the w6 and the w7) are very nice equipment, but what it comes down to is the money, and for the price of a W6 or a W7 you can buy subs that sound better and get louder for less money.

BTW... if you'll take a 12" sub, http://www.ikesound.com has the SE12 D4 for 99$ plus shipping right now, i'd jump all over that if i were you, leaves you pleny of money to get a nice amplifier, say zx750.1, the sub and amp would cost you all of around 350$ for a kick *** combo, just go easy on the gains of the zx750.1

hell you could do 2 re SE12s and a hifonics bxi1208d from ikesound for 445 shipped :)

Quality posting spencer. Thanks a bunch man. I'm going to put all of this together now and see what I'm going to decide on. this newbie can't appreciate you enough!!

Just a follow-up question. What sort of box would you recommend for the Re SE? Dimensions-wise? I'm thinking about going sealed but, I hear ported allows more bass output.

For a single one I would look into a 2 cubic foot box tuned @ 32 hertz. Since I am thinking of going with two, I believe the enclosure will be 1.25 cubic feet per ten with the port tuned @ 38 hertz.

Dimensions for the single one would be 30 x 13.5 x 16, but I will have to dig to get the slot port dimensions for tuning @ 32 hertz.

Thanks. Do you have a site that are good for these pre-made or custom-tailored boxes?
