comp. volume?

I just recieved my typre r 6.5 comp set...But i was wondering, i was gonna build kick panels for them, but wondered do they need a certain amount of volume, or it doesn't matter? they will be powered by my new jbl 80.4 so they will get 40 watts..

speakers really arent like subs they dont need a certain amount of air space

He is correct, they aren't anything like subs as far as air space, but any speaker except a tweeter will sound better if you give them what they need. Usually they sound good free air like in a back dash or something, but if you put them in a door or a kick pannel you want to at least give them a baffle so they have some resistance and don't just free air. That way you will get more bass from them. If you bought those for midrange like I did my r6.5s you will want to put them in some sort of enclosure or baffle. As your local car audio store they will show you.
