comp help setting amp

i bought a comp. set it has 5 1/2 mids 1"tweets and cross overs how do i need to set my amp to runn these using the xover that came with my cadence set the amp is a zapco i 2100 i guess my ? is do i put the amp in hpf or full or someone just tell me how to put the settings

leave it in full and let the xover do the job? Or you can high pass it really low

ok if i set to full everything else will be fine just use my xovers that came with my set correct

With my comp set I have my High Pass enabled and set the xover on the amp at around 80hz/12dB slope (sub Low Pass is set at 65hz/24dB slope) I know your saying wait what about 66hz through 79hz well because of the slope you dont have to worry about losing out on those frequencies.

So basically my xover sees >79hz with a decent slope, and then 80hz-20khz and the actual component xover decides which frequencies between 80-20k get sent to the woofer or the tweeter.

I hope that makes sense, if not post up and I can try to explain it differently

yea this is my first comp. set with xovers and to be honest im still lost if you could put that in a way that a dummy can understand i would appreciate it

Ok so your speaker amp has a High Pass, Low Pass and Full Range.

High Pass allow only frequencies above your setting to pass (frequencies below arent cut off but they are given a dB slope downward towards 0)

So If you have subs they can handle 20hz to 65hz or so

Your mids you would want to set 70to75hz upto 20khz (the crossover determines the frequencies between 70-75 and 20k that the woofer gets and that the tweeter gets)

With my sub amp its frequency response is 10hz to 350hz

Since I only want it set at 65hz I turn the Low Pass to 65hz

For my Mids the speaker amp can handle like 30hz to 22khz (or something like that) now I dont want frequencies below 75 to go to my mids, so I set my High Pass Filter to 70-75 so that only frequencies above that get set to the xover (some frequencies below it will but again that is because of the dB slope)

Now at this point the xover takes over and decides where to send the frequencies

Gee fast...It would have been nice to know you decided to buy other comps instead of the ones I had packaged up and ready to ship to you. You had told me to go and pick up a Moneygram on the 12th. I ck'd...looked like a fool because you gave me no info to tell them..IE: reference #, etc.

Why didn't you at least PM me and say you were going w/ a different set. I figured at 38 yrs. old you would have at least learned decency. I'm 43 and figured you were an o.k guy to deal with...Guess not.
