Coming up with a decent single cab sound system! Need opinions!

I have no real experience with component systems and I rather fill the remaining two stock speaker slots before I consider adding speakers to the system. I also do not know where I would mount them but thanks for the information, I may consider it.

No no no, I think you took his post the wrong way.

He's saying forget about the rear speakers, none at all (or if you must move your current speakers back there). And make an MDF mounting baffle (or just buy some plastic ones online) so that component set would fit in your doors where your current speakers are.

I have added some component speakers and a amplifier to run them which I have been looking at.

Ok I have purchased the following:

Hifonics TitanXi1008D 1000w Class D Mono Amplifier

and...wiring kit.

Now I am ready to embark on the other aspects of my system which include the bass platform and component systems:

But my main concerns are the bass platform...

My mind is stuck between the following combinations...

http://tinyurl.com/2r9lt2

2x Kicker CompVT's Dual 2-0hm Subwoofers

w/ slotted truck designed enclosure.

and this....

3x Kicker CompVT's Dual 2-0hm Subwoofers

w/ this enclosure.

Concerning the fact that this amplifier will be powering the subwoofers.

Regarding the component speaker stage I am considering moving my Pioneer 6x8's into the rear speaker slots of the vehicle and wiring them directly to the CD reciever and placing this component system into the doors and perhaps placing the tweeters near the front near the dash.

The component system will be ran off of this amplifier.

Any thoughts?

Ok, good choice on the head unit. There are better deals but that one isn't bad (better deals involve used HU's).

The box choice is a bit small, and shipping will be outrageous but that might be all the space you have. Double check the measurements to make sure it A) fits, and B) it uses all of your available space.

Stick with 2 subs... that makes the box choice easy and that hifonics will be sweatin trying to run three of those kicker subs.

You can do WAY better on the speakers and speaker amp.

Amp recommendation:

There are MANY amp choices.. I just happened to think of the diamond D5's right now....

For comps you can't beat the Rainbow SLC line. Don't buy them from there though. send a PM to 6spdcoupe and ask him. He's a dealer for Rainbow with a brick and mortar shop. He gives good deals to forum members and is a stand up guy. If the speakers are too much or something he can probably hook you up with something reasonable in your price range.

I'm looking into your component choices and amplifier choices.

Would you think that three subwoofers would work that amplifier too hard? Even if I bought three 4-Ohm 12" subwoofers and wired them so that the wattage would not overpower the subwoofer but also be a bit over the recommended?

As far as boxes go: To fully use all the space behind my seat I would probably need a box that would be 26" H but there are none that are available; so those boxes I listed would suffice.

Also regarding the wiring kit: Eventhough it seems I took a cheaper alternative than the Knukonceptz 4 gauge wiring kit, they should still pretty much work the same right?

Compare:

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_52_Complete+4+Gauge+Amplifier+Kit.html

http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KOL-AK4

And is the American Accessories kit not "true 4 gauge" but mainly insulation?

yep, the american accessories was the kit that is smaller than 8AWG but labeled as 4AWG. Sned it back and buy the knukonceptz kit. better product for sure. also look into Phoenix Gold RSD 6.5" comps for the front, and power them with a Profile Amp.
that stuff is high quality for a low price.
X2 on that right there. I got a Profile amp and it may not put out quite the rated power, but they are good budget amps that will get the job done.

From reading this thread I would do the 2 CVT's, hifonics amp, profile amp, and RSD components along with Knu wiring and never look back. Either pick up a box, or have someone on here build one for you, or see if you can get it done yourself. Aslo on the wiring, its a good place to spend the money and get the good stuff the first time as wiring is something you can always transfer from vehicle to vehicle and setup to setup, change amps, change HUs change speakers, and keep the same wire unless of course you start goin much bigger.

Well If I go with the 2x Kicker CompVT option which box would be better?

Part of the reason at this point for 2 subs is that the hifonics can't really power three...

As for the boxes the ported box would be louder but you have to custom tune the box to the subs requirements and there isn't a cold chance in hell that box happens to be properly tuned for the Kicker subs.... If you aren't willing to make the box yourself, or pay big bucks to have it made just go with the sealed box...

As for PG Gold comps/Profile amps? They are ok, way cheaper than the Rainbow/Diamond combo but I think it would me money well spent...

Ohh and yes, Knu for wiring. However all my power distribution is done through a $60 JL Audio 4ga kit I got on ebay and this wire is in it's 5th car now.... it was cheaper than knu... however I have 3x krystal kable (knukonceptz brand) RCA's and I love 'em (3rd car for these)...

How would this enclosure do for the two CompVT's?

And would the hifonics amp really not handle three 12" 4-Ohm subwoofers?

If not I will continue with probably purchasing the above enclosure and two Kicker CompVT's to house in them and consider the above component system and purchase this wiring kit.

ok the enclosure should be ok... like I said I haven't modeled the T/S params but subs are less sensitive to box designs with sealed boxes. If a sealed box is too big the subs lose power handling and it'll change the sound a little (mellower, less punchy) but it's not a big deal.. if it's way too small they'll sound like ***. However that box is in the middle of the rec sizes so it should be ok...

If you are going to do 2 amps get this for the power kit (the knu kit is for 1 amp):

http://cgi.ebay.com/JL-AUDIO-XA-PCS4-2-4-GAUGE-POWER-WIRE-KIT-FOR-2-AMPS-05_W0QQitemZ250142609156QQihZ015QQcategoryZ71528QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Then get this (JL kit only has one distro block, so use if for ground and the KNU block for power):

http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KNF-12

and a pair of these (I'm assuming 6ft is enough in a single cab but you might want to go longer..):

http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KRY2.2M

However if you are just doing the subs (and the one sub amp) just get the one knu kit...

3x of those kicker subs will want 1200w and more space behind the seat than you have... and with hifonics not necessarily making rated power all the time I would just stick with two...

How much wattage would two 2-Ohm Kicker CompVT's want?

And would the Hifonics amplifier be able to supply them with the proper amount of power?
