New AI Help Bot Coming

In an effort to boost thread replies and forum interaction, I’ve been testing an AI reply bot that caters to car audio specifically. (No this bot is not from Hawaii )

Basically how it will work, if a new thread hasn’t received a reply in a specific amount of time (hours), the bot will send an AI generated response based on the post at hand, to help answer the original poster’s topic or question. This only applies to threads with no replies and created from here out. It will also not reply to a reply, or threads with replies.

Lots of times, a thread is posted overnight, when site traffic is lower and the thread may not receive a reply for many hours. This will help reduce this and hopefully retain more members and create more interaction.

The bot will continue to be tweaked, but it looks pretty promising so far. Let me make it clear, this is only to assist in replying to new threads, when either a member doesn’t know the answer, or aren’t around to answer. Even if AI answers, members are still encouraged to chime in and assist. Again, the bot will not reply to a reply in a thread, only the first post.

The debacle with Google really took its toll on site activity the past year or so and my intention is only to help get the forum back to where it once was…

When you first posted this, I thought you were talking about Mitch.

Would it help to simply send and auto reply that will advise them that they posted at a less active time and state when to expect a reply? I don't recall seeing posts that did not get any responses, except for my alarm question.

I’m going to try to add that to the bot response. Its mostly intended to only be a temporary fix. These days, if a new member doesn’t receive a reply pretty quick they’ll just go somewhere else and forget about coming back.

Yes, I can guide you upgrade your car to a 4-track player.

Can you make it read/ learn books and math about audio and electricity and such? There's a lot of basic formulas for both sound and electricity used in any designing of any system. Idk, can you scrape for every t/s parameter of every sub ever? That would be sick, no idea of the realistic capabilities. Compile stats out of online manuals for any equipment, idk. If you have something where people can ask ai with a large car audio-related database, then that could take actually be a tool with a skill set that anyone would have a hard time matching the speed of, not saying it would do everything. Or if someone says I have a 5 cubic box for 2 12's, and I have this diameter port and I want this tuning, how long would my port have to be? Simple answers could go a long way. Just thinking out loud

I'm circumspect posting designs or info bro, the AI learns and mimics advice. I have a hobby and a certain skillset so I'm really not onboard with some AI dragging every post I make for more info.
I'd like to keep my skillset something unique ya' know?

I haven’t went that far with it at all. It will only be a fill-gap for new threads with extended amounts of time with no first reply/answer. It can be programmed to do images, however, so I would assume what you’re asking may be possible. I value human post interaction far ahead of using AI, except in special use cases.

Yeah it might be better than nothing at this point. Our current resident bot isn't very helpful.

I'd say as long as the Ai bot is at least slightly helpful, it could be a good thing. On the other hand, hopefully people don't see a reply from a bot and roll their eyes and never come back still thinking it is useless.

Don't know until you try it I guess.

Our resident bot must be some rogue reincarnated ChatGPT 1.0.a beta test from the early 2000s. As proven on this site, one thing they got right with that version is consistency, as all of the posts are consistent nonsense 😅.

What is with the one or two post per day routine? Yesterday I had three post then this one. Also on the topics talked about. I usually am for anything goes. On car wiring for example, #18 wiring gauge used on most ISO connection. And I believe I said to that it really doesn't matter what pin slots you use, just as long as you get the correct power wire used. And putting it in any slots will do. As long as you have the correct adapter. And it is so. My question now is will information like this affect posting? In almost all likelihood, yes. So others can join in. I would assume this issue is the case. Lots of traffic on the internet. So cannot handle 145,000 post all at once and in at one location. Hawai'i. That's my input to the posting issues. Sorry one more input: PAC adapter SWI-RC, black/white wire analog 2, you'll have to use a 560 ohm resistor inline with the solder connections to both the factory side and radio side harness for a single din. On some cars used. For a Nissan, I'll have to check. If your car doesn't have that function, then cut off that wire. Don't need it.

One more additional comment on posting: I know a lot of Hawaii fans are on the forum. So I'll be honest. I don't want to get banned for dumber forum goers or car audio guys. And that's my third point, I'm for anything goes even on electronics issues. Plus some of them may be scared too because they're high schoolers or just average electronic guys or car owners. So that's why the minimum post for some Hawaii fans like me. Personally I duke it out to 10 post arguing, but too slow and awkward by then. Thanks again.

Thanks!

I'm kinda against the AI bot. Meta is getting a bunch of shyt for their AI accounts, Twitter already took heat for their AI accounts, etc.
I'm against the idea as well. Why?.. instant gratification is the reason AI or social media captures the younger generations attention. We all learn from failure. Let em' go to Fb groups where solid advice is hard to discern with all the shitposting and clueless nuthuggers. AI is supposed to be omniprescent but lacks in useable info and can't learn what a member has accumulated over decades. Finding a like minded, solid community that can banter and supply legit info after something like a social media shitshow and pissing contest seems like a no brainer. I detest most Fb groups.
Once again I don't post sometimes because AI will drag my post for info and some unexperienced program can't possibly duplicate what experience has taught me. The resulting posts by the AI will be more confusing that AI responses already are imo.
Fine... to supply a quick response like indicated but what response will be forthcoming?.. "on hold... bathroom break?"
