Clipping?

obviously u guys no everything and I know nothing I just told u why mp3' won't clip faster than a wave file has to do with how the song is mixed look I'm just done this is like teaching calculus to toddlers

Dude, the type of clipping that WE are talking about has NOTHING to do with "how the song is mixed". If you have a perfect mix of any song and then COMPRESS that music on to a 128kbps mp3...IT WILL SOUND LIKE *****!

Again...Look at this comparison chart of the two...

mp3

flac

Notice all of the black area at the top of the mp3(compressed file) there is hardly any information being recorded. Pretty much everything above 16k is lost.(and the same this happens at the other end of the band)

ive been looking for those charts for someone else.

but anyway, youre wasting your time arguing with him he's just gonna keep doing what he's doing, then when he's proven wrong he'll get mad and say he's done with this thread because we're all idiots. lulz

I don't think that is representative of ALL mp3's.

I've heard bad ones, and I've heard some that are audibly identical to the CD.

I understand that mp3's are "lossy" by definition, but I think a "good" mp3 can be very good.

Sure. 320kbps cbr mp3's are very difficult to tell the difference with if you're not listening for it.... BUT there is still a loss in quality vs a cd. Even FLAC, as high quality as it is still has some loss in quality from cd.

In my opinion, MP3 has overstayed its welcome. It was great back when we were all on dial up and our time was more important to us than was the quality of the music. Now, we have bandwidth to burn. It's time to up our quality.

I recommend for everyone, whether you've got 30 years experience in audio installs or you're just getting started, to watch this training video by JL Audio's School of Sound. I have a hyperlink to share that starts right about where Steve Turrisi begins to explain amplifier clipping. This is over 90 minutes into a 3.5 hour presentation and it's well worth it to watch it all.

It helps to revisit topics we think we already know backward and forward because even pros forget things.

the song is not compressed, the process in making a mp3 file is destructive I just said how it works everything over 20k is cut of because a song is recorded at 44.1khz so that's nothing but open space and everything under 10hz is cut off how is this hard to understand it simply cuts off dynamic range it doesn't compress it if u don't believe me look up what compression is as an effect because u can use compression too to make dynamic range smaller that's how we make things louder without just moving the fader up so yes the FILE is compressed or made smaller by cutting off dynamic range just like your showing in your graphic but if the actual song was compressed everything over 20k wouldn't be cut off

u hear how everything is cut off over 20k that's why there is a loss in quality because everything over 20k is cut off meaning harmonics from high end spectrum instruments will be lost even though we can't hear over 20k those harmonics are lost and u can hear the difference because it effects the original sound
