Clipping?

Im curious. I know clipping happens when the sound starts to distort and it is bad for your equipment. but i do not know what clipping sounds like? i know what distortion sounds like. I imagined clipping being like gaps in the music.

and how can you tell if you are downloading clipping music so it basically is a pre-clip if you have your amp set up correctly..

just curious, i have no idea how to tell

Usually it hurts your ear. Most people mistake this for increased intensity and do not think a stereo is loud until they hear clipping. There is actually no good way to tell you. Just set your gain properly and don't steal music.

well i get my music from youtube and use a youtube to mp3 converter ( a HD one that takes about a minute or 2 for a song, so it doesnt do it fast and make crappy music )

but who pays over a dollar per song now a days haha

a lot of people will try to tell u I'm wrong but since I'm the only person with an education behind what I'm sayin just trust me distortion is clipping but it doesn't mean your in the red and just because something hurts your ears doesn't mean its clipping the threshold of pain is 120db so if u have highs that can do over 120db this could be a reason y it hurts your ears
