Class AB amp for the CTX65cs on their way?

One of my Autotek Mean Machine 99s serve more justice than my PPI 600.2..Seems like I continue to go back to A/B amps on the front stage..For 15+ year amp..it still performs absolutely fantastic

honestly.. the highend class D amps are clean. for the common person in a typical setup the highend amps are good amps.

the J/L, alpine, arc and zed audio class D amps are up there with the mid range class AB amps. but for gods sake if you think you can get a 150x4 class D amp thats 300 bucks and will sound great your just being foolish..

honestly on your mids and highs its so dynamic and your going to see so little current draw from them class AB is well worth the much more defined sound at its output levels.

few if any class D amps will rival this amp in low distortion and feedback circuitry that is responsible for dampening the drivers back EMF is superior to any class D on the market. and it will do 100x4 @ 13.8 volts. only reason its not 650$ is cuz its about 3 years old.. don't let that steer you away its perfectly fine and by today's standards is one hell of a deal..

FD 4150 - ARC Audio 4 Channel 640 Watt Amplifier

Nope. Only when overdriven and that's every amp not just class D. That's why the $199 PPI class D(power acoustik) won a SQ triple crown.
Dont be a fool. If you know nothing about amplification dont misguide anyone. the noise that amp has between 10 and 20k is easily measurable pissed poor dampening factor low slew rate.. argue with someone who doesn't understand circurty.

Serious it getting old and I'm tired of this ****.

That ppi is a cheap *** poweracoustic rebaged.

The good class do that manage to actually sound pretty **** good have a lot more than some output filter to get rid of the switching supply noise land low dampening factor. And I assure you the psi doesn't have any of it..

Your calling proof a SQ competition? There are more factors than simply how good it soubds.. a lot of people win simply because there alignment is flat.. if you did distortion test it would be a lot different. Greater 1%thd is the human threshold around 2000 he that doesn't mean it's not noisy from the switching supply.

Which it clearly is. The thd vs from shows its not a very good filtration in the design.

Sq systems are scored on frequency response (a good eq fixes this) installation and general sound at typically 100db.. hardly what I call a sound system.

Look at the actual graphs they don't lie.

Dumb down huh? Lol

Let me educate you a bit. I won't ramble on over BS

First the human threshold is well over 1% and speakers will cover up 10%

Second you will never find a ruler flat responce in a great sounding car

Third the listening portion is by far worth the most points

Fourth they use a 0db track to check noise

Fifth what do you think it beat

Now moving past the cheap PPI

Class D amps hold the 2 highest recorded scores in expert ISACA ever recorded

Gary Biggs used the MS-8 internal amp on a stock Lexus everything else and won ISACA and MECA expert at SBN

Op, this is why they still make A/B

Guys, guys ... let's be civil. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Let's say I did go the class A/B route and upped by budget to $1000, what would you recommend?

Also, I am returning the CTX65cs and exchanging them for XS65. Again, my plan down the road is to go active (this summer). If I need to buy two amps instead of just running a four chan, I'm down with that too. I want SQ over SPL and my finicky taste will make it work whatever it takes (well, within budget that is).

Would a ZED Leviathan-III be decent and/or worth the money for these?

You dont have to spend that much for an amp, i'd rather get a digital sound processor or better install materials such as mass loaded vinyl and CLD tiles for sound deadening. Any class A/B amp in the 300 dollar range should work fine. Its the install that makes you sound good most of the times, you should spend more on that vs that tiny bit of amplifier quality. Its heavy diminishing returns after 300 dollars with class A/B amps in actual percievable sound just to let you know.
