Clarion subs

My buddy has 2 Clarion pxw1051s, and wants me to make a ported box. The manual lists a 3 inch round port whether running 1 or 2 subs. The single configuration lists the port tune at 35.5hz and the double setup lists 31.1hz. My question is why is the port so small for 2 subs. The xmax is 12mm and sd is 330sq cm, as a pair I would think they'll move more air that a tiny 3" port could handle. Thoughts?

i use a 4 inch port per cube and a half, if your're slot porting its around 15 square inches of port per cube.

and as far as not being able to move the air the 3 inch will move the air just at a higher velocity causing you to hear horrible port noise

are you sure it doesnt mean 3 for just the one? whats the net volume going to be for the box?

Just do something like 2.5-3ft^3 tuned to 32hz and you'll be fine. Use a slot port unless you feel like spending money on aeros or using ugly PVC.

for 1 they list 1.0 net and a 2.5inch round 11 1/8 length with f3 of 31.02 hz.

there is a single spl setup thats 1.0 with 3 inch round port at 7 3/4 long f3 is 35.5hz.

the double setup they list is 2.0 with a 3inch round port 6 7/8 long f3 is 31.12hz

^^^They don't know what they're doing. A single 3" port is too small for even one of them.
