ok guys i just bought an 89 civic hatch si a couple days ago. it does need a little work on her but she runs great. 5 speed FTW!!!!! im tired of riding around listening to just a pair of rockford 6 1/2's so i firgured i would throw in the tryp r i have laying around. my questions are:

1) what is the best box confguration for these types of cars? sub up, port back? sub back, port back? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

2) i am only going to be throwing about 400rms to it off a rockford 300-1 so i need some suggestions on a very efficient box if anyone has some input?

3) where are some "must deaden" areas on these cars? i know my back hatch already rattles a little just from driving around so i will have to fix that, but where else?

all input is appreciated. i will try and get some pics with my phone here in a minute.

Sub up port back would be best for a hatch. Also, what size type R? Kind of hard to decide on a box design without knowing that first. Since it will be low on the power though, I'd suggest a larger box with a good amount of port area and maybe a 32-35Hz tune.

its a 12" type r. yeah i dont have the money to drop on a bigger amp just yet but that will come along soon enough. my max dimensions are 30w x 16.5h x 17d. i heard that 38hz tuning was ideal for these subs?

the guy wanted 1500 but when i went there to test drive it, the speedo was broken and i saw the damage to the rear side of the car. so i gave him 1000 cash and called it a day. its gets amazing gas mileage though.

this is the only reason i got the car. i want to eventually make it LOUD. but for now this will have to do. it will be getting some body work and getting primered flat black here pretty soon. maybe throw on some rims and a little exhaust and intake and call it a day for a while. till i can get more funds.
