Civic Alternators ****.

Seriously.... I think my civic has like an 60-70amp alternator. I have a kinetik HC1400 un front, and 1/0 wiring all around.

I am running about 600 watts to the subs, and about 350-400 to the frontstage, and I get slight dimming....

Is their anything I can do to stop the dimming besides getting a H.O Alternator? I mean the dimming is not THAT bad, but it does get annoying, and I want to keep my voltage high, so my amps are more efficeient and I get less distortion.

What about HC2400 in the trunk?

I did buy an off brand H.O alternator for my other older civic(same year 92), I think it was "rated" 160 amps, and I got it for like $150 brand new off ebay... I had that hooked up with a Kicker 15 L7 and did not get ANY dimming.

Im thinkin I should just do that....but removing the alternator was a PITA.

I mean Going with an extra battery is not going to help nearly as much as a alternator that puts out "150 amps" which probably only puts out 100-120 realisic....Im just like EH i dont want to install the alternator because its a pain in the ***. and I am def not putting a $400 alternator in my car...

i had a99 civic LX and i ran 2k+ with very little to no dimming. I put a HC1400 in the front, and then added a HC600 in the back and there was no dimming at all. volts never dipped below 13.5

maybe your amps are just ******* too much power?

do the big 3....I am running 1250wrms substage and 140wrms mid/high and get NO dimming
I have a 65amp alt
I have done the big 3 with 1/0

.........

I did notice dimming when I had the PDX 1.600, and the MRP-F550... these were the 2 amps I was using.

I am about to be using the Big Belle, and the MCA3004....

lol are you guys serious?!

I had a MD2D @1 and MD41 that probably put out close to 2kw. HC1400 in the front and HC600 in the back. 0awg all around and i had no problems whatsoever.

Never had any problems with the HC1400 alone but i just added the HC600 for overkill.

my stock 99 civic LX alt is 65a.

I dont know then maybe my amp grounds are in a bad location. I had them right mounted on the ring for the spare tire.
