Im installing a stereo in my sisters car today for her 16th b-day consisting of two 8" kicker CVR's and a kenwood KAC-8104D (500RMS @ 2 ohms)

I'll be setting the gain to feed right around 400-450RMS between the two subs (Rated at 200RMS a piece)

Do y'all think the big3 will be necessary or can i leave it alone? i have some 1/0 laying around and some terminals, but that alternator looks like a pain in the *** to get to (ford escort)

Battery is just a lesch wab battery, 610CCA and 760CA

ill just leave it alone for now then i guess. The issue is im leaving the state on tuesday, so i cant just come back and do the big 3 if needed, my sister would have to wait a few months.

thanks for the input all. the only installs ive done have been 2000+RMS, so i've always just done the big 3 as second nature.

My old car had dimming issues (93 nissan sentra, 70ish amp alt).

I had running:

400 watts to sub

100*2 to front speakers

So 100 watts more then her.

I only beefed up the bat --> ground cable of the big 3 which seemed to help, but it still dimmed a little bit after that. Never had issues with it for the 3 years i had the car so i would say it should be fine, even if there is a little bit of dimming.

btw, what size alt does the car have?

edit:

also both of my amps were class a/b if that matters at all
