Circuit City SUCKS!!!!

which goes back to a previous post... why didn't they bench test it before they attempted the install. That's on CC.. not me..
There's no reason for them to waste time bench testing it. Since they assumed it worked since u gave it to them to install. That's the reason why YOU should have benched tested it first to have made sure it worked before you gave it to them. That's also the reason why YOU probably wont end up getting crap from them.

did you request them to test it and make sure it works?

is it not safe to assume that the customer is always right and

that if he or she supplies a part that it would be in working order?

Now if the install would have went smoothly, and the idiot installer wasn't blowen f'n fuses in the car, blaming wiring issues with the amp install.

Then I would have said oh well, bad headunit, I'll send it to JVC for repair.

Clearly they are at fault here, and I expected CC, being a huge retailer, would take care of the situation. They just lost a customer here, and I just spent like $3000 recently there buying my Samsung HDTV. (at least I was smart on that one! hehehe)

Also, what would it cost them to replace... like $200 or so to make me a happy customer... knowing that they care for their customers... bringing me back into the store on my next electronics shopping spree!!

There's alot of competition out there, BB is right across the street...

Don't worry, BB would've done the same thing. Sorry to tell u this, but I can say for a fact that they wont miss you as a customer at all.

Ahaaaaa, I just had an idea. I will purchase a new unit from Circuit City, then swap it with the bad one...

They will end up sending for warranty with JVC, ..nobodies hurt, and I have a working headunit!!

OK, what about all my family & friends, what about all the posting on this forum on how they treat customers....

doubt that will work, i know at walmart when you return electronic items they compare the serial number on receipt to the box to the unit itself.

1) you're quite a prick2) I'm not a NOOB..

3) you're a mofo

4) stick it where the sun doesn't shine...
I agree with #1 and I agree with #3

lmao... sorry dude, I'm in a bad mood as you can tell. It's gonna be weeks before I get a new one, unless CC steps up to the plate.
Now, JVC will not warranty because I purchased from a non-dealer? lovely
Does this surprise you somehow?

That a company would choose not to honor any warranty coverage an one of their products which was sourced from an unauthorized vendor at a significant discount under MSRP?

Gee - whatta shocker.

I feel bad for u, but it's a lesson well learned. That's one of the main reasons why some people would pay retail prices at stores that are authorized to sell their products. CC will not step up to the plate, because there's no game to be played.

Have a look at Circuit City's earnings over the past several quarters.

They're not doing terribly bad //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Whether or not you consider it good business practice or not there has to be a line drawn between keeping one individual customer satisfied (via unreasonable means, mind you...it is NOT their responsibility to verify operational condition of a product that you didn't buy from them no matter how much you want it to be) and minimizing their overhead as much as possible.

Again - as has already been mentioned over and over...you didn't buy the unit from them....they have no reason whether ethically or financially to be liable over its condition!!!

Don't worry, BB would've done the same thing. Sorry to tell u this, but I can say for a fact that they wont miss you as a customer at all.
100% accurate in its entirety.

You'd have not gotten any further with Best Buy than you did with Circuit City in an identical situation.

I had said earlier in the thread that CC should have bench tested it. You may assume that whatever the customer brings in is working but thats not always the situation. Not every customer knows how to bench test something. But, if CC had bench tested it for him before attempting to install it, there wouldn't be this problem right now. I'm not taking sides with anyone about this because I don't agree with buying online then bringing it to any shop to be installed. Its just a good practice to do the small things like bench testing which will bring a customer back. Had they done this and found it to be a faulty head unit, upon recieving a new unit from the company it was purchased from, the OP would more than likely go back there for them to install that one. Now he sure as hell won't go back in there again. Either way its a loose loose situation for him now.

Ok, long story short, I was at a friends one time and he was installing a headunit and he didn't know what to do and I wasn't messing with it since he was getting paid to do it and he ends with no power the first hahaha and then he re-does it and had the same problem as you. Lights were on, but nothing would work and then gave up and it ended up being a fuse and a mis-wire and now his HU works fine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If its hard to read, basically re-check all the wiring and double check the fuses

the CC near my house surprisingly has some good installers and guys with brains, unlike the BB across the street!! My dad has actually had CC install a HU in his car, they did a clean, quick job and the few times ive been there just for fun to audition products the guys know what theyre talking about and are pretty helpful lol! But the BB across the street I wouldnt go near them, they are clueless idiots!

And CC sells JVC so I think they should now how to install em, i think you just got a lemon from eBay and lost your money, sucks for you man

I just found a local JVC Authorized Service Center here in Denver. I'm gonna take it to them first thing Monday morning and see if they can fix it.

Maybe it's not that bad... because it's getting power, just the display doesn't work. Hell I don't know, maybe something happened during shipping like a wire came loose. You know those UPS guys throwing boxes around.

..or when CC did the install it blew a capacitor.
