Choosing Sub, Once Again

Hey guys,

After horrible reviews about multiple AV's completely destroying themselves after a couple of hours of use, I've decided to open my mind to other subwoofer options. I'd like to have a sub that's like 60% SPL and 40% SQ. I'm looking to get louder than a pair of 12" Type R's in a ported box powered by a M1000. I'm set on the Cadence iA7 to power the sub/subs I end up choosing. I'm leaning towards one 15" over 2 12"s just because 1 15" seems to be the less expensive route to go. As far as a budget goes, I'd like to get 1 15" (or 2 12s) for 350 or cheaper. I'll be having Ami Creations build my box. I'd like my box to be smaller than 4 cubes as I'd like to have some trunk leftover. As for my front stage, I've got a pair of Image Dynamics CTX65CS's powered by a Cadence DCA-4100. I plan on getting a seperate battery to put in the trunk somewhere too as I believe I'll need it with an iA7 and a DCA-4100. Any suggestions on a battery? I will be doing the big three upgrade before I install the sub. I need some suggestions on subs!

Here's some I've been considering.

1) 1 DD 3515

2) 2 12" Shiva-X's

3) 1 15" Fi Q

4) 1 15" Ascendant Audio Havoc

5) Acoustic Elegance 15" AV-X (If they straighten up)

6) Funky Pups //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Any reccomendations will be appreciated! Thanks guys

ok, how is the SQ of the DC Level 4 XL? The magnet on that thing looks godly //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Would it keep up with a pair of ported Type R's of a m1000? I'm really looking to get as loud as a pair of ported type r's but have better SQ. Let me know what you think, thanks so much guys.

Im the only person in my area running DC. I can say that they sound alot cleaner than the garbage at Best Buy (Type Rs, P1, P2, CVRs, Kenwoods of some sort). Im not running an XL, just a regular Lvl 4 and it gets loud as hell on about 1300-watts. They are under rated by a bit too. I think Rusty said they can take about 1250-1400RMS.

Yea hell my 10" level 4 gets loud and clean on 1000 watts but I know it could take more too... I talked to Rusty about the XL when I was buying and told him I wanted SQL and he told me go with the 4 over the 4 XL. Talk to Kharps on here he had a level 4 XL.

The 4 cube box is for SPL. 3 cubes is recommended for SQ. If you go wth a 3.5 cube box youll probably get a best of both worlds effect going on.

You can Email or Call GP Audio and they can make some adjustments to make the enclosure shorter and either deeper or longer on the Glue and screw...

Not at all, amplifiers have gain control to attenuate the output to safe levels.
