Choosing Sound Deadener

I'm getting ready to deaden my Civic, and need some insight.

What are some good brands to use, and what are some to stay away from? Which are you using? Any likes and dislikes about it?

Money doesn't really matter. I'd rather pay a few extra bucks to get overall better quality, I'll need around 100 square feet, give or take, want to stay in or around the $175-$225 range.

Oh, it also has to perform well on vertical surfaces. **** Florida sun FTL.

Second Skin Damplifier probably comes closest to meeting all of your requirements. Cascade V-Max is another excellent choice, but tends to be more expensive. Dynamat Xtreme also tends to be more expensive and doesn't perform as well as Damplifier or V-Max.

You're below dealer cost for VMax for 2 bulk packs for $225.

Given your upper limit of $2.25 per sqft (shipping not included), you're going to have to settle for RAAMmat.

Raammatt is still very good! Ha. SecondSkin is best though.

I just wanted to echo what everyone else has already said: Second Skin or RAMMmat BXT. I have RAMMmat and it is wonderful! There is some B-stock on eBay right now for around $100 shipped.

What about FatMat and B-Quiet? B-Quiet brags about their Ultimate product being better than Dynamat Extreme. Their specs also look pretty good. The fatmat don't look that good to me, but I don't have any personal experiences with any of these products, I'm just trying to make an educated buying descision.

FatMat is Peel & Seal - stay away from all asphalt products. B-Quiet Extreme is asphalt as well. Their Ultimate is a decent, value oriented butyl mat, similar to RAAMmat but if they are claiming it is superior to Dynamat Xtreme, they are flat out lying. The foil is thinner and the adhesive is a lower quality, lower heat tolerance formula. Absolutely no foundation for a claim like that.

I will say it again, my fatmat has done fine and actually have it in a place where I used to get the most rattles. I also have Second skin in 95% of the trunk. I am going to wait to see how the Fatmat stays when it gets hotter out as I have it verticle right now in those spots I mentioned and if it holds up, will do my doors with it.

Second skin is really good though, but just need to save somewhere.
