Choosing an amp..

Hello, I am looking for some assistance in choosing an amp for my accord. I recently replaced all 4 speakers with pioneers. 3-way 6x9s in the rear with 2-way 6.5s in the front doors. I am happy with the speakers, but I feel that my pioneer head unit's 50watt x4 amp isn't really doing them justice. I am thinking about amping the speakers, and am trying to find an amp that is under $100 and will improve my sound. Obviously my knowledge on amps is tiny, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

Well your 50x4 head unit might be putting out 22x4. So that is prolly why you feel they are underpowered. Look for a true 50x4 amp and you will hear the difference.

You HU is actually only putting out around 20 watts per channel, the 50x4 is a max rating. I'm sure you'll be happy with a true 50x4 RMS. What's the actual power handling of the speakers?

Ok, my rear speakers can handle 270watts each, and the front can handle 180 each. You guys would recommend just getting a true 50w x4 amp? Do you know of any good ones that you would recommend?

And that is prolly the max they can handle. Do they have an RMS rating? If so, I would use it. But otherwise yeah, stick with a true 50-75x4 amp.

Give us the RMS power handling, those max power ratings are just to fool people. I assume they're somewhere in the 40-50watt rms range, so a 4x50 amp should do you well.

With some digging I found the rms is 40 for the 6x9s and 35 for the 6.5s. Also I found that my head unit has an rms of 14 :/

So a 50watt x4 amp (or similiar) would be a good investment?

Yup. You'll be able to push the speakers to full potential with a much cleaner signal.

Yup the 50x4 is perfect, you can always turn the gains down.
