I'm looking to replace my front door speakers in my truck, 2015 chevy non-bose.
I need some help. I've never listened to any of these and i'd have to drive 3 hours to get to a decent store. So, being stuck with only the internet, I kinda just narrowed down based on specs and price. I've had some Alpine Type-S 6x9s about 8-years ago. They were ok, loud, but I'm looking for a little step up from that in quality. Here's what I've come up with.
Pioneer TS-D $82
Alpine SPR $100
Rockford Fosgate Power $180
*JBL GTO639 $140 (638s are $60, the older model w/ nearly identical specs, tempting)
*Infinity Kappa $140
*JL C2 $150
*Polk MM $160
*Crutchfield says they don't fit due to tweeter protrusion. I know they would fit if I didn't use the bracket, which stands the speaker up off the door frame an inch or two.
Obviously I gravitate toward the pioneer or alpine just based on price and I know it will be an easy install using the bracket.
So two questions:
Best of Alpine R vs Pioneer D?
and
Best of all listed? (or not listed but similar price)
I realize the answer is "it depends", but any info is appreciated!
Some other notes:
- This will be a simple budget speaker swap plus amp, maybe do a little dynamat. Components will drive the price beyond what I'm willing to spend, particularly if we start adding EQs and such to really make them worthwhile.
- The oddball size 2" dash speakers will remain stock (They actually sound ok, relatively speaking). Rear 6.5s are terrible, but they'll remain for now.
- I already have a sub w/amp sitting on the shelf, so base isn't so important for the 6x9.
- From my research, my stock HU has a fairly flat eq curve, so I'm hoping to get decent sound from just tapping a line out.
