bELOW ARE THE LISTED SUBS i AM CHOOSING FROM. sQ MEANS NOTHING TO ME, i WANT AN SPL SUB, BUT i WANT IT TO BE EFFICENT AND STUFF.

2 12" rockford fosgate rfr3112

2 10" treo SS's

2 Orion H2 12.2"

2 12" MTX 9512-44 thunder 9500 2 ohm

2 12" Elevation Execution's

2 10" jl audio w7's

Please list best to worst of what you think is the best overall spl sub. I will be putting them in my 2000 pontiac grand am gt

i haven't heard any of those subs so i can't really comment on a list or rate them....but where did you come up with that list from...just the top of your head or you want those specific subs for a specific reason.....because there are other spl drivers that should be listed if you care nothing for sq..also whats your price range....2 w7's are gonna be pretty friggin expensive and most of what you're paying for is the ability to keep sq at loud levels...so that probably isn't your best bet for the money....

good luck

look into digital designs 9512/9515

I honestly don't know about the Orion H2...

It's using the "dual gap" technology now (essentially, XBL2), and it's BL numbers are very low.

Compare that to the old XTR's and HCCA's that WERE real SPL monsters, that had higher BL values, peakier curves inherently...

I really wonder about the decision to use the dual-gap technology on a sub line that's got a dedicated customer base who are more SPL enthusiasts than SQ enthusiasts...

Seems like the H2 might be more of a SQ woofer, based on the architecture and the numbers... I haven't heard one yet though, it's just a fundamental and surprising architecture change.

This woofer is nothing like the HCCA.

well the H2 does sound great..but is an extreme spl sub just like the hcca. Really really efficient too. Sensitivity is really high. I think Car Audio Review said it was the loudest sub to date the have tested. Not to sure what the exact number was, but i believe it hit 132.2 with only 1 watt going to it. Ill see if i can dig up the article. But yea, when you hear one you should be impressed. BTW, the difference between the 12.2 and 15.2 is the 12.2 is a 12" sub and the 15.2 is a 15" sub

allright then, you have forced to me dig up the article on it...i will find it and post it later today, but i am about 95% sure. The reason im pretty sure is because i found it pretty impossible to believe to. But i did read it in a magazine review. Im sure there is someother stuff involved, im sure it was in an anechoic chamber blah blah..but ill find the article to prove it to you guys

i dont know that the orions are really SPL power houses. they might be able to get loud, but from i dont think they will get that loud. i have a very hard time believing the 132 with 1 watt figure.

i came accross a vehicle in a competition running 9 of the 12.2's in a wall with about 14,000 watts(at least thats how many amps they had :p), that set-up hit a high score of 158.5db. to give reference, my stock set up hit a 154.8db that day. keep in mind that is stock vs. super stock, he had a wall.

as for the H2's dual gap being essentially the same as XBL2... i think they are quite different. XBL2 isnt really a "dual gap" in the sense that the H2 is. the design's are slightly similar though.
