choice between two vehicles

So bye-bye, miss american pie.

Drove my chevy to the levee,

But the levee was dry.

And them good old boys were drinkin’ whiskey and rye

Singin’, "this’ll be the day that I die.

"this’ll be the day that I die."

You remind me of a Ford salesman I met once. I was shopping Ford Rangers vs Toyota Tacomas and this sales guy kept pushing me to "Buy American" It was working, I was looking hard at the Ranger even though I liked the Taco better. Then I saw a "Made in Mexico" decal on the Ford. I went back to the Toy dealer and found out that the 04 Tacomas were built in Freemont, California. So I did what the Ford guy suggested and bought the American made truck. The Toyota.
If Ford made a truck that was as good as my Taco, I'd have bought it. BTW, I've personally owned 2 Rangers and 2 Tacomas.

Oh yeah, get the Tacoma.

Not the point genius. Where they're assembled is irrelevant. Ford is an American company so the money they make on their vehicles stays in the U.S. and pumped back into the economy. Buy a Toyota and the money leaves the country never to return. Use your freakin head.

Hah a V6 Toyota is boring... that just reminds me of the tacoma I saw hauling a$$ down the road next to my house one day. Supercharged, with the TRD package, jacked up real high and on swampers. The thing was pretty beastly. Even a domestic enthusiast would have appreciated it.
If I drove a Honda Accord I would be impressed by any vehicle that went faster than 50 mph.

Def the Tacoma. It will eat that Chevy alive off-road. Any gains you get in payload over the Tacoma will pail in comparison to the quality and performance you'll get from the Toyota. Resale value will be much higher on the Toyota as well. Hell, I would get a F150 before I'd get a **** Chevy Truck. This is coming from a Chevy guy btw. For HD work trucks, a Ford F250 6.0 Turbo Diesel will run circles around just about anything Chevy makes.
BTW..there is nothing neccesarily wrong with either of these, this is just my personal opinion after driving/hauling with about 12 diffrent models of trucks over the past 10 years, including the models listed above.

If you're a chevy guy I'm a fucking Japanese exchange student.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I'm gona gafta do a double on the Toyota. Tacoma with Trd, extended cab, 5spd, and off-road package is basically my dream mid-size truck right now. If you can afford it, it would be a shame to pass up. Nothing wrong with the chevy, I just think in the long run your going to be MUCH happier with the Toyota. The v-6's are pretty quick. Prolly run right along side, if not beat the 1500. As I meantioned earlier, as far as off-road capability goes, the Toyota will absolutely slaughter that Chevy. I have a buddy with a 06' 1500, extended cab, off road, all options. Super nice $36k truck, but does'nt hold a candle to my cousin's Toyota when it comes to off-roading. The resale value is through the roof compared to the chevy, not to mention you'll prolly be able to run it to 200k+ if you take care of it. I've never seen a newer 1500 used for work thats made it past 150k and still ran good with no issues. Honestly, the ONLY thing I can see the Chevy having over the Toyota is payload, which unless you pull stumps on a daily basis, your probably not going to miss.

well i went with the chevy. I could not find a deal that touched this silverado. The tacoma was just not a comfortable fit for my lanky ***. The payments were too high for me to deal with. Thanks for all the replys. I am sure you will see some pics of it when I get to pick it up.

"the money leaves the country never to return". Really?? You mean to tell me that the payroll $s the Toyota assembly plant workers got (in California) all left the country? Or that the payroll $s (pesos!!) that the Ford plant workers got in Mexico somehow make it into the US?

Corporate profits will make it into a countries economy, sure. So will payroll dollars. Tell me, do you think more money is in the labor to build a truck or the profit from its sale? And which dollars will filter into your hometown economy, corporate profits or payroll? Like you said "Use your freakin head"

**** you all to hell. buy the chevy to sing god ****it!!!

Dont know why people get so bent over this and that car. I have owned pretty much anything from a toyota to a Chevy and in between and yeah some or better than other, but I have had problems with both foreign and American made. So dont get it. Will say when I had my Nissan 300zx with twin turbos on it and it shot a rod through the hood, almost litterally it cost and arm and a leg to fix hence why it sat in my back yard the next 2 years rotting away till I parted it out. Then I had a Toyota Corolla and lasted forever. Had over 200 k on it and never did nothing to it besides light maintenece. Hell car is still running as buddy has it with close to 350 on it now. Then I have had American cars broke down constantly. Easy and cheap to fix though. My one cavalier had over 200k on it with only light maintence on it and hell it was modded to hell and back. Just take care of your shit and it will last!

Now newer American cars/trucks what ever have something foregin in it and same about foreign cars having American parts in them. Just cost more to fix in the end for foreign vechichles.

Still love my Eclispe, but looking to sell it soon. Been saying that for better part of a year though, lol!

It sounds like you've had almost as many different makes as me....lol I still have a variety right now including....Ford....Toyota.....Honda....Dodge.....Nissan....and Porsche.... but I have had Mazda...Mercury....MG.....Mitsubishi....Isuzu.... and I'm sure a few others I can't think of .......I just figure a vehicle is something to get from point A to point B safely.....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yeah I have a shit ton of vechichles and I am only 30, lol! I usually just get bored of something and sell it and then get something else. Usually end up with a profit it it was used, which was nice. Havent done that in a while. Hoping to get something good out of the eclispe, but I need to paint it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
