I think Kenwood and Soundstream had a super woofer with top and bottom spiders.

Just a little FYI

why in the hell would you want to put a spider/suspension setup behind the motor like that

all it does is add moving mass...and cost...for no extra performance (ie they are still using a off the shelf surround)...other then a marketing gimmick...which it's doing that well...it has you all talking

It make cone movement extremely linear at high excursion, there are alot of subs that use spaced apart dual spiders to achieve this, Pheonix gold and Memphis audio's LVS sub have this.

if you know what your doing you use the motor to control the soft part arrangement, and use less suspension and mass...ie: jbl WGTi
