Chicken breast or pork chops?

In a similar boat. Known I was diabetic for years but haven't taken it terribly serious. Got an infection from a sore on my ankle last week that freaked me out. My leg ended up swelling up from the shin down and the infection was spreading up my leg. I spent 4 days in the hospital being pumped full of antibiotics. Finally on the mend and taking it more serious. Watching what I eat and cutting a lot of carbs out of the diet. Been pretty amazed with the results so far. I'm finding a lot of low carb recipe's that are pretty tasty. It does **** that all the best tasting foods are full of carbs and sugar.

I've been type 1 diabetic for 17 years. Never been "overweight" but went low carb a couple years ago and dropped my insulin intake down a ton. Which is great being $300 a bottle... Eat a ton of grilled chicken, eggs, tuna, and my favorite Zaxbys grilled chicken salads(35 carbs with fired onions). I do miss pizza and ice cream but still get them for time to time.

They gave me insulin this time and I ended up going to walmart to get it because it was only $42 for a months supply of the pens. Was going to be around 300 at walgreens.

Yeah the Walmart Relion brand is $25 a bottle here. I have used it quite a few times. Only issue is it's not as fast acting as Novolog and Humalog. I have woken up in an ambulance twice on Relion insulin from my blood sugars dropping insanely low while sleeping since it has such a slow reaction. Definitely gotta be careful with it.

I'm on the Novolog N which i just take after a meal and its been great.

I almost died 10 years ago from a massive gangrene infection on the back of both legs, stomach area, thigh area. I was in the hospital for over 4 weeks in Critical ICU then a nursing home for 2.5 weeks where I then ended up catching MRSA right at Christmas. That put me back in the hospital for 3 weeks. From there I have since had about 30-35 MRSA Cysts taken out of my body. Some small some as huge as 5" long x 3" wide x 2-3.5" deep in my left leg, that one I had a enclosed vacuum pump system to keep it clean.

Back in 2017 I was put on a drug that I later found out I was not supposed to be on. I was drinking so much that it was going right through me a gallon at a time every 10 minutes, 7up by the 2 liters, 2-3 gallons of kool-aid a day, 3-4 gallons of water and so on. It caused my blood sugar to rise to 1172 by the time I got to the hospital. Mind you I am not diabetic at all, but because of the drug that cause all these issues and the drinking which the drug can cause you to do...I damn near died again. I was in the hospital for 12 days before they finally released me and I had to watch everything for 2 years before finally being released as diabetic for good. I never had to take insulin just take Metformin with every meal.

While I am not Diabetic I completely get where you are with that cyst and infections. I've had so many in my life that I have to watch everything I do medically with regards to surgery & in my life, especially during the winter. Anyone who has kids I refuse to be near during the winter because of a compromised immune system.

That drug was new and recently approved by the FDA then and no one knew much about it. Only the drug maker finally called back and said because of the extremely rare syndrome I have that I shouldn't have been on it because it can cause exactly what I went through. Doctor is damn lucky to say the least I came out ok.

Edit: The Gangrene started when I had a cyst internally in my left thigh burst and I had no clue. It then spread via tunnels throughout my system.

All my best for a full recovery and now...back to the food topic, lol.

Will be homemade Chicken Hot Wing Tenders Saturday night for Football!

Making that bolognese sauce, and a mess. I used red wine this time instead of white. Sauce cooks for about 4 hours.

What's funny is I'm not at home, working on some night moves. I have no idea whose gas grill that is. I took the guts out, threw some oak in it and grilled a bunch of steaks. Bust a gut.
