Chevy Restoration.

I can see em all now.

Looks like things are coming along pretty good. I can see that rust converter stuff would work pretty good for you. Just hit the whole thing with the grinder and a good wire wheel cup on the grinder and it should be pretty good. Then hit the whole thing with the rust converter and you will have a good solid rust free base to paint and finish. Least thats pretty much how I did it with my last frame (only had it sandblasted first) and axles and such.

Few other products you may find handy in fixing up the old truck. Rust encapsulator is good for those pesky spots that you can't fully grind off and might be worried about, or tight spots you can't get at to remove anything more than the loose scaly rust. Pre cleaner/degreaser I was shocked how well this stuff worked, cleaned up all the grease and made the rubberized undercoating on my fuel tanks come right off and works great to prep bare metal for primer and paint. Last one, your fuel tank looks pretty good but a bit of rust under the straps and such not nearly as bad as mine, but this works great and its a pretty simply project. Tank Tone works great on refinishing the fuel tanks, makes em look like new and gives em many more years of rust protection. I used it on my tanks about 3 years back and they look just as good as when I first did them, just a little dirtier.

Your truck sure has come a loooooong ways, looking good. Your gonna have to take it to some shows when ya get the drop on it. Your making me want to get back to working on my other truck and finish it up as good as yours.

thanks man. and yea i was thinking about usin that shit even tho i am blasting it and sealing it. I actually just ordered my ls1 fans so that will be a fun project too.

WELLL ive decided i cant stay home from work anymore. I did today for my first weekday off work all summer. I spent wayyy too much money.

I bought:

Front and rear gears 3.73 and master install kits

Truetrak for the rear with necessary HD bearings

LS1 E fans and flexalite new controller

New disc brakes up front by rotoworks w pads.

Russle ss brake lines

Line of fire led for the back

new black carpet

anddd por 15 marine clean and metal prep. Big spending day for me. Pretty much setting up to get all this done in the next month before school.

dang, thats a killer, but gonna be sweet when its done. I did a double take when I read front/back gears, totally forgot your truck was 4-wheel drive. The locker out back sure will be nice.

O noes! Look at that oxidation. Bring it by KC and I'll make that paint shine like new and restore those bumpers/trim pieces //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Also, what is a smoothie bumper? Sounds delicious.

edit: After realizing that this picture is over a year old, I'd assume you have that fixed by now :p

well spent 1300 today on the truck on the new parts then went out and worked for 2 hours on one seat mount. I finally took them off and am gettin them ready for final install and i drilled the holes for the other side of the seat... only had one side mounted for the day that i drove it. Tomorrow i think the rear end is comin out. well see.

First thing my dads gotten me for this build and by far one of the most needed.
