Chevy Cavalier Owners

I have a 2003 Cav. I grounded my amps off to the side. Didn't go through the bottom because that would have put a hole through the exterior. Mine is on the left side.

My next car will not be a Cav or Neon //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif
Yea i heard that.

And I also grounded my amps to the left. It seems as if there isnt any other place better than that. I might just put a bolt throught the bottom and weld it there. Then I can really tighten down the grounds.

Just ground it in the spare tire well. Go right through to the outside. Sand down to bare metal on both sides. Use a nut on both sides and when you're done make sure to paint it so it doesn't rust where you sanded it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

the spare well is too far away and the grounds would be more than 2 feet long.

I was just wondering to see where you guys grounded your amps at. My trunk has deadner and I really dont wanna spend 30 mins taking a section off if there not going to be a solid ground there. Let me know. Thanks
You lazy bich.... :rolleyes:j/k

OK..

Anywhere on the chassis is an acceptable place to ground.

This is what a modern chassis looks like

Any clean bare spot will work.

If you are having noise problems and changing your ground does not help, try rerouting your RCA wires, they should run as far away as possible from any power wires be them for the car or for your amps. If they must come in contact make them cross over in an X fashion, you never want RCA's and power cables running closely parralell.

Also check the health of your ignition system, a plug wire with a chunk out of the outer cover will radiate noise, also crappy plugs can do the same, When was the last time you checked everything out under the hood?.

SO ????? What does that have to do with it.?? I have 4 gauge running to a ground block and then 4.5 ft of 1/O going to my tire well and there are NO grounding problems. BTW I also have my Head Unit grounded there.

well the only rcas running next to the power is the sub rcas. I dunno if that has anything to do with it.

I always check under the hood and everything was fine when I checked yesterday.

Again the ground is secure but the only thing that might be wrong is that the grounds from Both amps are twisted together and then screwed to the 1/0 grounding block.

Grounding 2 amps to the same spot is called common grounding and is a way to futher reduce the possibility of ground loops, it shouldn't cause any problems.

Does the amp make the alt wine/ignition noise when you unplug the RCA's?.

If the amp stops making the noise when you remove the signal source (the RCA's) goto the HU for noise, a noise filter may be needed on the power wires for the HU.

just find your strut mounts, where the rear springs connect to the car. should be right above where the wheelwells are. shuld look somthing like this

just ground to one of the bolts thats right there, works great for me.
