chevy cassette deck problems

Hey, i was hoping to get some help with a problem i'm having. the cassette player in my 97 chevy ck pick up stopped working. the radio is fine but no tape deck.

i prchased online a used radio/cassette listed for a 95 - 2000 s10. everything matched up on it. the mounting harware, the wiring harness. everything was identical.including the fact that the tape deck didn't work when i hooked it up.

i was sent a repacement and it arrived today, and guess what? the tape deck doesn't work!! so now i have some questions.

could there be a compatibility issue given that one is for an s10 and one is for a ck?

is there some trick or step i'm missing setting up the tape deck?

could it be something wrong with the wires or harness and not the tape deck at all?

or is it possible i ust got a coupe of bad ones in a row? what are theodds?

would appreciate any insight you might have.

make sure there arn't any wires that might of accidentaly got pulled out of the harness for the radio

raffi, you heard right. i have an add on xm radio and it is powered with the tape deck.

man i miss my xm radio!
