Chevy 1 2 3

The "smart" people are only looking out for themselves, as mentioned, which is unavoidable.

Being the son of a GM engineer, I'm just as much for Chevy / Pontiac / Buick / Saab / Saturn / Cadillac / GMC as you are.

The Big 3 need to take a step back, and reevaluate the market and realize what the consumers want.

They're getting better, but they're still not there. Someone needs to wake up and realize that no one is interested in a gray plastic interior. Period. The interior is where you the the vast majority of your time, make it nicer.

Whip the bean counters into shape and stop being so cheap.

Improve the products until they can sell for their normal prices, because I don't see constant rebates on Nissans and Hondas and Toyotas, yet people still buy them.

On another note, Michigan shouldn't have pinned all there hope on a few companies (all in the same business, for that matter).

THis dickhead from Chrysler tried to sell my Grandpa and I a Chrysler 300 and he asked, "Is it made in America?" and the salesman was like, "yes, red white and blue all the way". We asked why then on the sticker on the car it said "CAR MANUFACTURED IN CANADA".

Needless to say the salesman did not get a sale.

You know what surprises me? The advertising. It would be so effective to use something like that honda commercial (the car in the tunnel playing oldies music) and show one of their "remade cars/classic cars" (i.e. the new Camaro, Challenger, or even the Mustang".

It's catchy. I'm tired of seeing a 1 minute long commerical of old trucks and listening to the same "this is our couuuuuuuuuuntry" song. It's annoying as hell.

It almost makes me want to be a business/marketing major and get some fresh ideas into these companies.

Michigan is built around the Big 3. Every advertisement for the Big 3 lists the employee prices, because EVERYONE can get employee prices because EVERYONE has a Big 3 employee in their family.

And like I said, when you can make $26 an hour with benefits to drive a hi-lo... That's every high schooler's dream right there.

Another thing I can't understand is why one of these companies doesn't make a good reliable electric car.

I mean, it's cheap, the technology is here, it's being done. Seriously, are they plain stupid, or do they not realize if they realesed a cheap (20,000-30,000) electric sedan that they would become top dogs again? Seriously, what middle class american family/person would not want a reliable daily driver that cost about 2 cents a mile (i'm looking at the Tesla Motor website right now and that is there estimate). They might not make billions in profit, but it would get some buzz into the company and bring people into the dealerships at the very least.

Probably because it isn't very practical. The Tesla has a range of 250 miles. It also only weighs around 2700 pounds.

A typical family sedan is going to weigh quite a bit more than 2700, so you're going to lose some of that range due to more resistance.

Then you have to deal with charging it. People forgetting to charge it.

Battery memory? When your cell phone battery decides that it'll only hold a charge for three hours? What happens when the batteries powering your car stop charging fully, then you'd have to replace them?
