hey i had this package before...http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/MTX-Subwoofer-Amplifier-Package--RTP212-/sem/rpsm/oid/80801/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do ...and now i have the alpine type-r's running at at 2ohm load for 1000watts. acutally prob 900watts because HiFonics is a bit overated i herd... it seems thought that my old mtx system sounds louder, idk. i dont know if its my setting or wat?

hey congrats man....perhaps the Type R have a lil better Sq characteristics so it doesnt sound as deafning as the SPL oriented MTX's...I'm sure you can get louder and clearer though, correct?

If you want more bass you can alway port....

yea somethings wrong with the install. check your phasing and definatly check your lpf. i remember once i reset my HU (before i used to use the lpf on the amp) and that reset the lpf to off instead of 80hz which it was on before. then for like 5 minutes i wondered my there was hardly any bass. set it back to 80hz and scared the **** outta me haha. anyways audiolife is right, there is no way in hell the mtx should be anywhere near the type r's. something definatly wrong. hell even make sure your wired right. only way they could come close is if your wired to 4 ohms and they are only getting 500 watts to split, your gettin cancelation (many factors, including phasing), or your crossover is screwed.

what lpf? what u mean and sub in phase?

lpf = LPF = Low Pass Filter

if the subs move different directions at the same time they are out of phase

if the subs move the same direction at the same time they are in phase
