I bought my grandfather this one for his b-day two months ago. He likes it cause is fairly easy to operate and with the software all you have to do is plug up the camera and it will walk through the process of getting all the pics off and stored where you want.

Great bang for the buck point&shoot. I just picked up the SD630, but for its smaller design to throw in my pocket for trips. SLR is way too big&heavy to lug around...

Steve, either the 530 that I linked or the 540 that Don linked are great cameras. You really cant go wrong with a cannon. Reliable and easy to use.

Steve, either the 530 that I linked or the 540 that Don linked are great cameras. You really can go wrong with a cannon. Reliable and easy to use.

I have an A75 and a 520. Both are decent and cheap. A75 was better, but thats the older model.

I also have a A70. We have (in wifeys possesion) a 20D that I got her for Valentines day. Then just picked up a EF-S 28-135 lens for her B-day next week.

as straight forward of a camera as I've used personally. Much better then either fuji's we had for ~ same price

Agreed, if it fits within the budget it is a great camera. Kept in my back pocket all weekend at finals and barely noticed it was there. It does have a large display, which I was weary of at first due to battery life, but it proved itself to last quite well.

I'd hurry on that, though, because Futureshop has it for $200, so it won't be long until Staples drops their price and you miss that extra $10 off ...

IIRC the SD630, go for ~$250 on ebay, 540's were ~200 for camera+1gig mem card I believe.
