Eh Dere Hi Dere Ho-ser
In the $175 +/- $25 range.

Does not need to be anything fancy ... something basic, fairly easy to use, durable.

Think of it as a gift for your parents who don't quite have the background in technology that you do.

Suggestions welcome - thanks! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Don, looks like we both have the same tastes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Steve, either the 530 that I linked or the 540 that Don linked are great cameras. You really cant go wrong with a cannon. Reliable and easy to use.

I have an A75 and a 520. Both are decent and cheap. A75 was better, but thats the older model.

Absolutely. I was originally gonna suggest the 530, but you beat me to it, so I went with the diversity of the more expensive 540. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I also have a A70. We have (in wifeys possesion) a 20D that I got her for Valentines day. Then just picked up a EF-S 28-135 lens for her B-day next week.

or you can just get this:)

springing a little extra cash for the SD630 6spd mentioned though would be great.
Got one, never used though, layout was real simple and camera looks very nice.
Agreed, if it fits within the budget it is a great camera. Kept in my back pocket all weekend at finals and barely noticed it was there. It does have a large display, which I was weary of at first due to battery life, but it proved itself to last quite well.

another great reason to get it too is the battery.

I'm starting to wish I sold the 540 and kept the SD //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Also I've noticed that my folks, and sister who isn't to computer savvy would like to deal with uploading as little as possible, meaning a nice 1-2gig card //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif .

IIRC the SD630, go for ~$250 on ebay, 540's were ~200 for camera+1gig mem card I believe.
