cheap sub????

i bought a pioneer sub off ebay for $10 it look s practically new but it get loud when i hooked it up to my lightning audio 450x2 amp(cheap,but good amp)it will play but when i turn up my amp goes into protection(it shuts off) i 've hooked many other kinds of subs to my amp and have not had a problem so it must be the sub. it is pioneer 34c sub. could anyone tell me what the problem may be.
