Challenger Build

Hey everyone! I recently purchased a dodge challenger and now I'm planning a build, haven't had a system in 2+ years so I'm stoked to get this rolling. I have a few questions below that Ive been unable to answer through research.... I appreciate your help.

Right now I'm set on 2 Sundown SA 12's, haven't decided if 1500w or 2000w power yet. Has anyone had experience with boxes for this vehicle?? Sub and port back or sub back port side??

Box size and tuning in this vehicle? I listen to rap mostly and id love to play some decaf music.

There are an overwhelming amount of choices for woofers, amps, and speakers, trying to keep subs and amp under 1K, if you have other recommendations please share! Ive always ran 1 15" in the past so I'm open to try anything.

Well, almost 100 views and no responses yet! I really would appreciate any feedback guys!

Some More info:

Headunit: Pioneer AVH-X5700BHS

Speakers: ?? ~$200 budget

Speaker amp: ?? ~$300 budget

Subwoofer(s): 2 Sundown SA 12's

Subwoofer amp: ?? $500 budget

Id do a single 15 on 2k rather than 2 12s on 1500. Its cheaper and takes up the same space. So a zv3 15 or x15 on a sundown scv2000 would be right around a grand and be sweet.

If youre open to other sub options you could save a couple hundred. Or find some killer used deals here.

I got a buddy who has a challenger and wants a system so im curious as to what will work best too. From the looks though two 12's will take up almost all of the trunk. I assume since it will act like a a regular sedan the whole port and sub back config would work best. Those two SA-12's are some beast subs and are a good choice. A decent amp would be the soundqubed Q1-2200.2 amp

What if on 2000w for the 12s?

Also, I'm open to other options so give me your opinion! I've been looking at AA, SSA, American Bass, and some others...

2 SSA Icon 12s will cost 600 dollars. A single Zcon 15 is 460. Motor force between the 2 is comparable and the 12s have a bit more cone area but the 15 is simpler and IMO cleaner looking. I just prefer fewer subs where I can get away with it and its cheaper. You likely wouldn't hear an output difference between the two assuming bot are using 2k rms. The Soundqubed 2200 is 430 dollars so that plus the Zcon puts you at 890 and a very sxc substage.

Those SSA's look very nice and people seem to love them! My past 3 set ups have all been 1 15" woofer but 1000w has been the most power I've ever ran.lol I'm stoked for this build! The AQ amp looks nasty too, especially for that price! I hear getting loud out of a trunk car is very difficult but I don't want to seal and fire forward... Which do you think would offer me more spl? I'm trying to account for box size, air flow, cone area... So difficult haha Im stuck choosing a tuning, thinking 32hz or 35hz..thoughts?

I have a set of Image Dynamic XS69s components for the fronts if your interested BNIB. They didn't fit in my Ram. I had a set a few years ago in my Challenger and I know they fit in there for sure. PM me if interested.

People who say getting loud from a trunk are shooting for 50s, or even 60s. A single 15 in 4 cubes @ 30-35 hz on 2200 rms should get you nicely into the 140s. Just play around with box positioning until you find the optimal spot and roll with it. Fwiw, ive built a few sealed off forward firing setups that werent 100% sealed. I just buikd the box the same size as the opening into.tye trunk from the back seats. I dont bother with sealing the rear deck or anything like that. Works fine.

Heres a pic from a while back.

2 RF T1 12s. Sounded great on 1k rms.

Thank you for the information! Yes I'm definitely going with the 2200rms. I just wanted something that would sound great!! No plan on competing at this time but I'm assuming mid to high 140s daily would be perfect for me..I've been very unsure about the firing forward thing. Think I could make some hair stand up?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Id shoot for more low 140s as a goal with just 1 sub. Itll be plenty loud though for a daily. And hairtricks require lots of displacement. Smallest sub stage ive seen do legit hairtricks was Pete Kulickis Isuzu. He had 2 soundstream xxx 15s walled on a xx collosus hifonics.
