I am in the process of adding 5.1 to my truck and would like any input on the placement of the center channel. The easiest would be the center channel units that sit on-top of the dash. Most of the major manufactures make one, Alpine, Eclipse, Kenwood, Clarion... etc...
However, that really does not fit in with a "stealth" setup that I am running. For imaging I would assume that you need to keep the center channel as close to the HU and center of the vehicle as possible. What would happen if the speakers were above this, such as by the rearview mirror? I may be able to disassemble a very small speaker (perhaps up to 3") and install just to the right of my HU but this would require some disassembly of the dash. I have a double din HU so the ½ din setups will not work as a bolt in. I could create a box that sat atop of the dash and fired forward but getting the correct appearance could be a challenge.
Anyone have any pictures of setups they have done? Or ideas of what to do in a 05 Chevy PU without the center console? Thanks for any info...
