just got my cdt 6L1" installed 2day, they are powered by a 5chan mtx 4405 i think, their installen in my door panels of my 93 probe gt, and well they don't live up to the hype ? i mean i was hoping for more. or do they just need to be broken in ? how many hours breakin time do they need ?? and will they sound better after broken in, this is in reference to bass...

my 2 cents

Sooooooo you're giving them 25-65 watts per channel or is it bridged ... ?
- Steve
not bridged, currently running them off the fromt 2 channels, with a infinity ref 123 in a sealed .86 cu' boox soon to be changed, buying an amp for my components and another sub with a nice amp. so to answer ur question their getting about 45-55 watts

Also they do need a break-in period. Not quite sure how much but I'll tell you a weird story. I was playing them at moderate volumes while i was installing and then all of a sudden BAM! They got twice as loud and I had to turn the gains down a bunch.

CROSSOVER SETTIN IS FLAT,

ss3079, what type of amp u recomend ? i'm looking for a good amp that can put out all the power these can handel and sound good.

wags, really weitd, i do the same while installing (playing tereowhile installing)

There really is a ton of amps that would work ... easily narrowed down by a budget.

I complained with 50 watts too ... then I threw 100 to them, midbass improved a lot - no complaints now.
What do you mean when you say complained? Are you saying that basically if my amp is around 50W rms, midbass won't be that good??? cause I got a usx4065 with 65W rms..

Guys,

I've posted questions about components and rears in the past and have received great advise. The one thing that is still troubling me is why do some speakers (same size)require amplifiers with a considerable amount of power than others?

For instance, the CDTs require an amp that can put out about 100watts rms. Does this mean that they won't sound good until you crank them up? Or, is it more of a function of the speaker's impedance response, i.e. the mid bass current demands are greater than what other speakers require?

Thanks in advance.

I just noticed an increase in midbass when I doubled the power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Try it and see how you like it. After all, I'm not the one listening to your stereo //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

ok, ss, are you saying that you had to

1) listen @ 100W with a >= 100W amp

or

2) You just needed a >=100W amp and can listen at any level and be happy?

I haven't opened the usx4065 yet and took it out the plastic and stuff so I'm guessing I can return it to sounddomain w/o problems...but, ONLY if it's necessary!

Is anyone using the cl-61s AND the usx4065 w/o problems?
