Car speakers on home receiver?

ok, so i hooked up my bose car speakers that were laying around my room today to my yamaha receiver, just cause i was bored and messing around. Will that mess anything up? It sounded alright listening to music, i just dont know much about ohms and everything...

yea i hooked up a pair of car audio subs to my home audio stuff for me room, they are cheap-o stuff (but they get pretty loud)

if it is bose, i wouldn't screw w/ messing that stuff up

??? Check the ohms on the speakers. Make sure you amp in the reciever can handle that load...proceed

yea they do, I just need some more bass to go with them...

they are old speakers they aren't any good i just wanted to be sure it wouldn't mess up my receiver...

i thought it would say ohms and wattage on the back of the speakers but it doesn't?? where would it say? like the manual?

they are prob 4-ohms, most home receivers regularly run at 8ohm, but many can run at 4...

i ran mine at 1.33 ohms without any probs what so ever aganist everything ca.com would tell me lmao

it did fine didnt even get hot just a lil warm

and the amp is a 2 channel 8 ohm pos

Just remember that it's making ~ double the power at 4ohms, being a factory bose system though they could have been 6 or 8 ohm...

so its just basically just a power issue? the speaker is not going to pull too much power out of the amp, I could just be under powering the speaker.. is that kinda right?

i used to run 4 ohm 10 kicker comp with my bookshelfs. just fullfilled the sound i guess
