I'm no car salesman, nor ever had the desire to be one.....but it follows reasons given that most car salesmen likely have monthly sales goals they must hit. Hence if you go in on the last day of the month the salesmen would likely be more willing to negotiate price and close the deal that day to get that sale in before the end of the month. Also, given most car salesmen work off commissions, if their commission cutoff is the last day of the month that would be even more motivation for them to squeeze that sale in so they can get paid for it sooner.i was told by a car salesman that buying a car at the end of the month is better than at the first of the month. he said to always do it on the last day of the month. not sure why.
The company I work for takes quite a few loan applications from the local dealers that don't have in-house financing/etc....and the salesmen alway seem get more "pushy" the last few days of the month. Calling frequently to check on the status, trying harder to talk us into approving the deal, etc etc. Never bothered to specifically ask them why....always just assumed it was due to the reasons I listed above.
