Car problems

So today, I was driving and had a pretty far ride to take (about 120 miles) and just as I am getting towards the off ramp I start to slow down and try to turn off and I lost my power steering completly... and I was going about 70 mph so I was already a little above the speed limit... anyways, I can barely turn the car to the off ramp but get it moving towards there, the battery light comes on, oil change light comes on, and emergency brake light comes on and the temperature shoots up to a warning level for being over heated.... anyways, I try to brake, brakes barely work and I am partially breaking with the emergency brake and I end up getting on to the off ramp, I try to shift down and my car is stuck in 5th gear... scariest thing of my life... There are so many things that went wrong, but what kind of problems do you think could have caused this? The car was smoking real bad when I eventually got the car stopped too...

The place I was going was actually to the police station which was about 1/3 of a mile down the road from the off ramp so I kept my car in 5th gear and just watched my car take a rough ride to the police station... and of course I couldnt get the brakes to work good so I pull up the emergency brake and brake hard/squeeling my tires into a police station with cops all looking out at me as well, one cop came out and wrote down my license plate number and that was it, then left, then I called a tow truck to tow it away. do you think I will get a ticket too?

if you get a ticket, contest it and explain your situation. You shouldnt get a ticket for your car blowing up.

Maybe your ecu took a shit? Sounds like everything went wrong, but I dunno how it would make your ****** stay in 5th.

Maybe your ****** overheated. I know when my ****** blew everything in the car stopped working and it kinda smoked a bit.

That's what I am kinda thinking... when everything went weird at first, I thought it was my battery and alternator because the battery light was the first to come on, then I lost my power steering and stereo shut off, but then the other lights came on, car got stuck in 5th, brakes stopped working, car started smoking lol... it's a mess... Deciding if the car is even worth keeping. Blue Book value on the car is only $1350... I'm sure the damage is higher than that, but I have no cash and need a car or I can't go to school or work.

I had the same thing happen to me 3 years back in a Mazda MX-3. It turned out to be the alternator.

Here's something to make you feel not as bad...

I was driving home last weekend on I-5 from Corvallis to Medford and as soon as I pull off the ramp, my check engline light comes on. I was like WTF? Oil pressure ok, temp ok, etc... So I take a look thinking its the O2 sensor, and go down and buy both an O2 sensor and a thermastat for it. Intstall them both, start 'er up, light still on. This time it starts overheating a little bit. So I took it in, found out it's the head gasket. My thermastat must have went causing the head gasket to blow. Going to cost me almost $1500 on the Explorer. There goes my summer money. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

haha, I don't feel much better, after finally hearing on what went wrong in my car, it was also my head gasket, and he said there was more damage to go along with it, They said there's some kind of transmission problem because they can't even shift the car (still stuck in 5th even tho the car can't move and is broke down lol) and they don't even know what's causing it yet, and I had anti-freeze leak everywhere throughout my car he said. Overall he said for the problems they can see $1350, and that's without even finding out the transmission problem and what needs to be done there.

It looks like I'm not going to be fixing the car and just hoping someone wants to buy some parts out of it.

****, that must have been scary shit, what kind of car is it?
Ford contour. This experience will keep me from ever buying a Ford vehicle again... I know it's a cheap, bottom of the line car and old to go along with it, but the safety problems and risks that I had to take when the vehicle got messed up is too much of a risk, I easily could have lost control and crashed the car... and I was speeding by like 10 mph when the brakes went too so that didn't help.

No way you would get a ticket.
I hope not, but some cops are assholes... and they didn't even offer help, say hi to me or anything... They came out, wrote my license plate down and walked right past me to go back to their smoke break and then inside. I lost a lot of respect for cops because they didn't even offer a bit of help.
