Car problem

everyone here has told you a buch of tests to try and you just keep blowing them off. how about you actually try what we're asking for and tell us what YOU get not the dealership and we'll go from there

also do you run the car everyday or does it just sit there? how often do you start the car up and drive it?

well then it sounds like to me since it isn't dead evey time you go out to it and only evey once in a while you're leaving something on thats causing it to drain. if it did it everytime then i'd think it was something else but if it's still good the other time you try and it has no problem it's you thats causing it to drain. make sure everytime you get out of the car all the lights turn off and you heated seats you said that triggered it last time turns off. and just make sure all the connections on the batt and the alt are tight and clean

the amp will always read voltage at the pos and neg inputs. you'll need to check the remote wire. put the red or pos lead on the remote and the black or ground to a ground. if you read voltage threw that with you deck off then there's one problem. also make sure you set the dmm to dc volts when test that. and tell us what the batt itself reads with the car off first. then start it and tell us what the batt reads.

ok will do thanks it will be an hour or 2 before i do that

i would like to think a certified gm dealership would be able to find bad alternator the first THREE times.. idk what else it could be unless audio related.. but i just thought back to yesterday when it was running fine and the only thing i did diffferent was turn on heated seat

I drive a Dodge. I have been to my dealership for symptoms where they misdiagnosed things that I could visually see causing the symptom once I figured out where to look. I have gone in for symptoms that they insisted weren't there such as a steering wheel that shook violently enough that you could see the driver's hand moving with it from the passenger seat, and they won't notice or acknowledge it until I ride along or point things out to them. Don't take it for granted that your dealerhsip covered that particular base unless they told you they tested it and it was fine. Alot of these places can't figure anything out very easily anymore if it doesn't trigger a code and the quality of the work depends on the dealership and who's working on a given day.

Just cause you took it to a dealer doesn't mean jack! They are just normal people just like you and me and can very well make mistakes. My guess is that they didn't see an immediate drain and quit looking at that point.

Perhaps something is draining after a certain period of time.

Any timed devices on your car after the ignition is turned off? Or a device tied to the heated seats, since they seem to be the main source.

well i got my car jumped to take it home from college.. 20 mins into my drive it died on me as i was going through a stoplight.. im not sure exactly what happened.. but the oil light and battery lights on the dash went on and it said check gauges.. i could start the car but after driving like 5 feet it would die on me and id have to start it up again.. seemed like it was backfiring also

great.

You have two options. Take it to another mechanic, or walk.
